Buttermilk Caramel Syrup

When I saw a recipe for Buttermilk Caramel Syrup, I had to give it a try.  I am a huge Caramel lover and with buttermilk, that sounds amazing!  After I made it, I didn’t even let it cool and literally dumped a cup or more on my ice cream.  It is so yummy!
 Here is what you need.

Buttermilk Caramel Syrup

1 1/2 cups buttermilk
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla {I changed this and used 2 tsp, I love vanilla flavor}
In a large saucepan, bring buttermilk, sugars, and butter to a boil over medium heat. Remove from heat and whisk in soda and vanilla. It will bubble up a lot.
I put mine in Mason jars in the fridge.  I did double my batch and it made a quart and two pints worth of syrup.  It is amazing stuff, I put it over some ice cream, but it does say you can use it on Waffles and pancakes.
