Hi Taylor House readers! I’m Eva and I blog over at Tales of the Scotts. I am the wife to a really kind and very patient husband and mom to a wiggly three-year-old son and an equally wiggly ten-month-old daughter. Life around my household is exciting to say the least! My crafting adventures started with paper crafts about four years ago and progressed to general crafting and finally sewing! Like most other crafting mommas, I squeeze it in during nap time and bed time. I’m excited to be here with you today to share my Chalkboard Bathroom Message Board.
Are you ever getting ready in your bathroom or taking a shower and you think, “Don’t forget to write shampoo or toilet paper on the grocery list.”? And then you forget. And the next time you’re in the bathroom, you reach for the shampoo bottle and realize you never bought any when you were at the store today because it never made it to the grocery list? That happens to me all.the.time.
So I got to thinking that I needed something in the bathroom to write those types of items on so I wouldn’t forget them. I didn’t just want a notepad or a plain dry erase board. I knew I wanted something a little nicer so I decided to use chalkboard paint for the first time and I created this.
I grabbed a couple of wooden plaques from Joann’s using two 50% off coupons. I also bought some chalkboard and turquoise paint.
I started off by painting the bottom plaque white (sorry forgot to take a photo). Then I created a chevron pattern using my Silhouette Cameo. I know many people are over the chevron look but I still love it. I cut it out on some vinyl, attached it and then painted over it with my turquoise paint.
For the top plaque, I painted the top of it with the chalkboard paint and painted the sides with the same turquoise paint I used for the larger one.
Then I lined it up and used some wood glue to attach it. Now, I’m sure you can see my mistake. The glue instructions said to clamp it in place. Well, I didn’t have any clamps so I just glued it on and left it to dry. Well, you can see that it’s a bit off.
But it serves its purpose wonderfully.
I can even leave little love notes for my hubby.
Now to just remember to look on the bathroom list before I go to the store….
Thanks again Chrissy for having me over! You can find me on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.
