How do you guys teach your kids about giving
to those who are in need?

I have found over the years that my kids have a hard time relating and understanding that there are people in the world who don’t have food to eat sometimes.  I think this is very important for them to be aware of and to help whenever they can.
I learned about Champions For Kids Simple Service programs when I decided to participate in the Post Bowls of Hope program.  This is a program where you buy Buy 2, Give 1.  I went to their website right away to learn more about the program.

How it works:
Facts:
1 in 6 Americans do not have access to enough food!
Hunger is not an issue that only affects homeless people!
More than 17 million children live in food insecure homes!
The lack of adequate nutrition affects cognitive and behavioral development in children.
{Info from Feeding America}

I had an idea to help my kids learn about helping their community and kids just like them.  My boys have been wanting to do a lemonade stand this summer and I have been working on putting it all together for them.

I talked to them and we decided that any money that they make will go towards buying food for our local food pantry as well as telling the neighbors about our service project and asking for any food donations that they would like to contribute.

They will be not only be selling lemonade but we will use our two boxes of Post Cereal to make bars to sell as well.  We are in the process of getting it all put together for next week! I am so excited to do this service project with my boys and teach them about giving to those in need.

So, the first thing we needed to do was head to Walmart and pick up our Post Cereal, you can see our shopping trip over HERE.

This little guy was pretty excited about making Cocoa crispy bars for the Lemonade stand to sell!

Watch for my post next week with our Lemonade stand and Post Bowls Of Hope simple service project!
