Post From the Past: Road trip with Kids

Last summer we drove to Disney World {22 hour drive one way} and to Chicago on Spring break {7 hours one way} so we needed lots of ideas for keeping the boys entertained.
I created a Travel Bag for both of my boys that included some of the basic things they will want in the car.

 This little bag is the perfect size for in the car.
 I actually purchased this one from Thirty-One and had my kids names embroidered on them.
Here is the goodies inside.

 Here is the list of what is included in the bags.
  • DS, Charger & Games
  • Ipod & ear buds {the little round blue pouch on the top left}
  • Some books
  • Small Clip board with tablets {These are from The Dollar Tree}
  • Pencil Box {From The Dollar Tree}
  • Clorox Wipes & Sanitizer
  • Travel Game
  • Water Bottle
There Ipods are full of music as well as audio books
{Thanks, Jenn}, so they can spend an hour or more listening
to a book.

 For the M&M game just give out a bag of M&M’s and have the kids guess how many are in the bag &
the number of each color.
I plan to just give them the snack sized bags & I laminated the answer sheet this so they can use a dry erase pen
and play this many times.

 Another game that I have for them is Road Trip Scavenger Hunt.  I printed this off from Momsminivan.com.  If you are looking for lots of fun printables for the kids, head over there.

 These are just a few of the ideas that we use when we travel.  Being organized and prepared has made our trips
go so much smoother.

Enjoy!!

  1. Well a post about Disney demands a comment from me :-)

    Our drive to Disney is about 7 hours – so my teen/tween girls tend to spend the entire time texting or ds-ing or reading. Though when we are in line at the world, or riding on the bus there, they love to play Disney games. We'll do an alphabet game of Disney words and rotate between the four of us: Aladdin, Blizzard Beach, Coronado Springs, Donald, Eeyore…etc

    And I love your 31 bags. I am actually going to do a giveaway soon of one – the one that is my favorite to take into the parks.

  2. I give you all the credit in the world for driving that any hours!!! Bravery is oozing out of you, my friend!!!!

  3. I meant that many hours…
