It’s Super Bowl time!
Are you planning a party for your friends and family this year for the Super Bowl? What type of foods do you consider food ball party foods?
Have you considered making your snacks and meals from scratch? I am a person who thinks homemade cooking tastes so much better and I love taking the time to put my personal touch on the foods I make. Instead of buying a frozen pizza, you can make a homemade pizza with so much more flavor plus you get to put exactly what you want on it.
Game Day Recipes
First, make sure that your game day food is portable. The last thing your guests want is to miss part of the game because they had to sit down to a meal in another room. Finger foods or small portions make it easier to transport food to the room you are watching the game.
Fleischmann has some delicious looking recipes on their website. Here are just a couple that I thought looked yummy!
Fleischmann’s yeast is known for quality and reliability and for giving at-home bakers confidence in their from-scratch recipes since 1868 (over 140 years ago!).
If you are anything like me, you try out new recipes before making them for guests. That way I can make small changes and tweaks if they are needed. I tried the Whole Wheat Slider Bun recipe the other night and they were fabulous!
These were so easy and quick to make. Homemade breads can usually take a little time but these are ready to bake in about 30 minutes.
- ¾ cup whole wheat flour
- 2 envelopes Fleischmann’s® RapidRise Yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup milk
- ¼ cup water
- 2 tablespoons butter OR margarine
- 1 to 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- Combine whole wheat flour, undissolved yeast, sugar and salt in a large mixer bowl.
- Heat milk, water and butter until very warm (120° to 130°F).
- Add to flour mixture.
- Beat 2 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer, scraping bowl occasionally. Add ¼ cup all-purpose flour; beat 2 minutes at high speed.
- Stir in enough remaining all-purpose flour to make soft dough.
- Knead on lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 8 to 10 minutes.
- Cover; let rest 10 minutes.
- Divide dough into 12 equal pieces; shape into balls.
- Place in greased 8 or 9-inch square pan.
- Cover; let rise in warm, draft-free place until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
- Bake in preheated 375°F oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until done.
- Remove from pan; cool on wire rack.
- Fill with favorite sandwich topping, slider burgers or Sloppy Joes.
