Moving to WordPress

Hi, everyone!  I just wanted to let you all know that The Taylor House will be moving to WordPress soon.  I am very nervous about the switch but confident that it will be a smooth transition.

For all of my Google Friend Connect followers, this is not a feature on WordPress.  PLEASE connect with me another way, I would hate to lose any of you.

I’ve been slowly transferring my posts from blogger to wordpress in case I make the move. I’ve been thinking about it, just not sure yet. I guess I need to just sit down one day and play with wordpress like I did with blogger and try to make it do what I would like.

Are you making the move yourself or paying someone to do it? I've thought about it but I have played around with WP and it seems more difficult to figure out how to design. Although, I am taking a web design class in the Spring so maybe that will help with designing my own WP site, should I move. I don't want one of the templates (even the paid studiopress templates) until I can figure out how to design it and make it my own!

Good luck with your move. :)

Just curious, why the move? I am not familiar with Word Press at all, except that I know I can't use the cool Google Follow feature. lol. Is it really that better over there??

Hi, Lacey. There is a lot more flexibility on WordPress, they have some great plugins available. The SEO benefits are another reason. I like the idea of owning my own site, I have heard people on blogger that have gotten shut down and that scares me. WordPress also makes it easy to change your site design and layout. I know that WordPress isn't for everyone and I have been thinking about this for a while now. I just feel that it will be the best thing in the end for my site. I am happy to answer any questions that anyone has! Thanks so much!
