I think everyone knows by now that we’re building a new home.  It’s been an amazing journey that started with designing the layout that would work perfectly for our family.  Everything from creating a work space for me to an office for my husband.

We’re finally coming into that home stretch with all the decor details being decided.  The one that always seems to be the hardest for me is the paint color! I’m not sure why that is, but I really struggle with finding that color that I LOVE.

I decided to start with my Test Kitchen space in the new house which has white cabinetry and rubbed bronze fixtures.  The hard wood floors are a dark hickory.  I had originally thought I would go with a beige color but then I found Nautica At Home paint colors at Menards and ended up coming a completely different route!

What I decided to do, was pick a photo that I loved.  This one below is from our vacation to Mexico last spring break.  I love all the colors, the blues really jump out at me.  What I decided to do was paint the walls a very light grey, Octopus Gray in fact.  It’s a true gray color that doesn’t really have much for blue undertones.  I actually ended up painting both kitchens with it and my living room!

I decided to keep the walls light and then pull in that bright aqua blue with the rest of the decor.

What I love about the Nautica at Home line is that I was able to find an entire palette of color options that work together.  Check out these Beach House color ideas.  You can see that the Octopus Gray is on here as well as an aqua color as well as a couple other options that I’m going to pull into the space.  I can’t wait to see this finished!

This is just one of the many steps to finishing this space!  I cannot wait to share the grand reveal with you in just a couple weeks!!

What is your go to paint color?  Do you have one that you use all the time?  I’d love to hear!
