Raise your hand if you love sleep as much as I do. Sleep is like my best friend since becoming a mother. The sad thing is that I don’t always get the best sleep. Eating tons of sugar and too much caffeine can shock your body into not wanting to fall asleep. Some of my best advice is to steer clear of the junk before bedtime. My husband loves eating junk food before bed, looks like we have some work to do in this household.

Stay off of the electronics Something else I found really interesting when researching better ways to sleep, was that electronics stimulate the brain. I have such a bad habit of looking at my phone or watching television before I try to sleep. Also, if you wake up in the middle of the night, avoid the electronics as well, you don’t want to stimulate your brain in the middle of the night, which will also make it harder to go to sleep.

Some say get rid of naps I’m torn on this tip. Research “shows” that naps can ruin your sleep schedule at night. I believe that some people do just fine when they take naps and others not so much. You really need to know yourself and how you do with naps. Does it ruin your night time sleeping?

Get the right mattress So many people complain about their mattresses and they have every right to. Mattresses are usually the culprit when it comes to not getting awesome sleep at night.     My husband struggles with sleep and I constantly have to remind him to stay off the screens at least 2 hours before bedtime and to never pickup his phone or iPad if he wakes in the middle of the night! He tries to debunk studies by insisting that these things aren’t a factor but really, I’ve pointed out to him that they do! Now I just banned him from ever complaining about his sleep issues if he won’t listen to my advice LOL

    I agree with everything you’ve mentioned but I want to add that if you want to have a better sleep you need to change your sheets more often. The smell of a fresh and clean sheets is another way to have a deep and relaxing sleep.

    Getting a great night of sleep is super important. I am so guilty of looking at my phone and laptop before I go to bed! I’m trying to reduce my times on my electronics before bed, since I know it can reduce the effectiveness of sleep.
