10 School Lunchbox Hack Ideas

October 23, 2017   |   Leave a Comment

School lunch ideas for kids can quickly run out after the first week back! We have some great school lunchbox hack ideas that your kids will love!

School Lunchbox Hack Ideas

10 School Lunchbox Hack Ideas You Need

Freeze Water Bottles or Juice Boxes

Instead of using ice packs, freeze your kiddo’s water bottle or juice box to use in their lunchbox to keep cold things cold. I like doing this so that my son can just throw it away after lunch with all the other garbage from his lunchbox.

It’s also great because it keeps their drink icy cold until they’re ready for lunch.

School Lunchbox Hack Ideas

Have Single Serving Snacks ready to pack

This is going to make packing your school lunch a snap! Have individual packed chips, cookies, crackers, etc. on hand and ready to throw in your lunchbox.

I like to grab the Snyder’s-Lance snack packs and have them in the cabinet for the kids to use in their school lunch or just grab on their way out the door for a quick crunchy snack. You can visit snack-packs.com to download a coupon so you can try this tip too.

School Lunchbox Hack Ideas

Freeze Peanut Butter Sandwiches

Instead of spending money on Uncrustables, we like to make our own peanut butter sandwiches and have them in the freezer ready to grab for a school lunch. Sometimes we cut off the crust and have them in a circle and sometimes they’re just a normal looking sandwich, either way, it’s quick and easy!

Pack Chicken Nuggets in Thermos

Did you know if you heat up chicken nuggets and throw them in a Thermos before your kids leave for school, they’ll stay warm until they’re ready to eat lunch?! My son loves doing this because nobody else that brings their lunch ever does it. He feels pretty cool!

Remember to pack the BBQ or ketchup to go along with them!

School Lunchbox Hack Ideas

Make your own single-serving Mac & Cheese

Just like the chicken nuggets, Mac & Cheese will stay warm in a Thermos too until your kids are ready for lunch. They like to include hot dogs in it sometimes too for a new twist.

Send Lunchbox Notes & Jokes

We have some great lunchbox notes and jokes you can print off and use in your kiddos lunchbox or you can get creative and use a toothpick to write a note in a banana for them! I don’t think I can get away with doing this for my middle school boy anymore but when he was in elementary we sent jokes all the time!

School Lunchbox Hack Ideas

Send Hot Dogs in a Thermos

You can microwave a hotdog, cut it in half and it will fit in a Thermos perfectly for your kids to have at lunchtime. Remember to cut the bun in half too and send some ketchup for on top!

School Lunchbox Hack Ideas

Make your own Lunchables

Instead of spending money on Lunchables, make your own! This way your kids can pick what kind of meat and cheese they want to have. I try to add in some fruit or veggies for them as well!

School Lunchbox Hack Ideas

Make your own Fruit Leather

We love making Fruit Leather, make sure to stop over and check out our Facebook Video on how to make this! Kids love having this in their lunchbox and it only takes one ingredient to make!

School Lunchbox Hack Ideas

Use Muffin Liners to Separate

When we make our homemade Lunchables, I like to use muffin liners to divide up the tray. They’re inexpensive and disposable for my kids to just toss after they have lunch!

What great ideas do you have for making your kid’s school lunchbox meals more fun all year long?
