5 Tips When You Work From Home -Perfectly Simple Bars
If you work from home you know how hard it can be to stay focused on work and also put it away when family time rolls around. I still struggle with it daily sometimes and finding a balance between everything is a juggling act for sure. I try to always keep a few things in mind to make myself more productive throughout my work day and I wanted to share them with you.
1.Make and Keep a Schedule– Of course the unavoidable will happen some days- a nurse calling from school to tell you that your child is ill and needs picked up, power outage from a storm, etc…that will disrupt your day and you definitely want to roll with it but setting working hours and doing your best to keep to it can help your workday be much more productive and keep work out of your family time. Let your family know that aside for emergencies or urgent situations you need to focus, and likewise with work- Let family time be just that, avoid constantly checking your email and Facebook.
2. Keep snacks on hand– Especially if you find yourself too busy to eat a proper lunch you want to keep yourself nourished with snacks items like fresh fruit and Zone Perfect Bars. 3.Get up and move every 30 minutes– Have a work at home desk job? Even if it is just a quick stand up and stretch, 10 jumping jacks, or a couple yoga poses you have to get up and move around. This will help your blood flow to your brain which will actually help your focus and alertness, it will give your eyes a break from the strain of staring at the computer, and keep your body from stiffening up ( pushing 40 means your back will only take sitting hunched over your desk for so long without revolting)
4.Set up a work area– Even if you don’t have an entire office to dedicate to your work you can set up a desk with all the supplies you need right at hand so that you do not find yourself getting up every few minutes to look for something and disrupt the workflow. Pens, pencils, sticky notes, and other items you use daily should be on the desk or in a drawer for quick access. Arrange a charging station for your computer and smartphone,
5.Make a to do list list- To increase productivity in any area of your life making a list and prioritizing it is a big help. Focus on the most important things you need to accomplish that day, put them on the list first. Continue to add all other tasks such as conference calls, post office runs, emails to return, etc… and put them in order of importance. You get a great feeling of accomplishment when you are able to mark them off and whatever doesn’t get done on the bottom of the list can be rolled to the next days list and prioritized accordingly.
