This specific butter is a thick nourishing cream that works wonders for dry and sensitive skin, however, I’ve added some wonderful essential oils that are known to prevent and treat stretch marks and itchy skin, which are extremely common during pregnancy while your belly is growing and your skin is stretching.
This recipe include raw cocoa butter, organic coconut oil, almond oil and 20 drops of Frankincense and Gentle Baby (a special blend for mama & baby’s skin which also has relaxing components). Raw cocoa butter has been used for decades to treat and prevent stretch marks and hydrate extremely dry skin. Many women opt for cocoa butter creams during and after pregnancy. Coconut oil is filled with rich antioxidants that hydrate and nourish your skin while almond oil soothes redness and irritations.
Frankincense is one of the worlds most used essential oils. It has been used since biblical times to help a variety of aliments. Frankincense has been used for many things but one of it’s greatest properties is it’s ability to reduce scars, stretch marks and redness. Gentle Baby is a special blend created by Young Living to soothe your skin and relieve and discomfort that comes with your skin stretching.
So here is what you’ll do:
1 cup of raw cocoa butter
1 cup of solid coconut oil (the kind used for cooking)
1/2 cup of almond oil or jojoba oil (your preference)
10 drops of Frankincense
10 drops of Gentle Baby
Directions:
1. In a glass container combined all the ingredients except the essential oils.
2. Take a large sauce pan and fill it with 2 inches of water. Bring water to a boil.
3. Place glass container (like a mason jar or large glass bowl) in a large sauce pan with boiling water
4. Wait for all ingredients to melt
5. Remove from heat and allow to cool but do not place in the refrigerator because the cocoa butter will solidify and crack
6. Whip the mixture until it becomes fluffy. Could take up to 10 minutes.
7. While mixing add essential oils slowly
Reminder: do not place in the refrigerator or warm places because cocoa butter will melt or becomes too solid to use (if placed in a cold area).
Place in an air tight container and store for up to 3 months.
Enjoy!!
