Blogging: My First Blog Conference

October 23, 2013   |   4 Comments

I have been blogging for about two years now, and when I first started I would never have imagined the places my little blog would take me.  I started this blog as a way to stay connected with family and friends after moving out of state.  It quickly turned to a place for me to share some of my creativity and connect with people who love the same things as me.

I remember reading about Blog conferences and events and honestly thought that I would never attend things like them, they were for really “big time bloggers” and I did not (and still don’t) fit into that category.

Over the last six months I have attended so many fun events with fellow bloggers here in the Twin Cities area.  Last weekend, I even attended my FIRST Blog conference.  Yep, I did it!  I cannot tell you how awesome it was!  If you are new to blogging and have the chance to go to one, do it!  I promise you will not regret it!

Bloggy Boot Camp came to Minneapolis and I was there, along with about 100 other awesome bloggers!  I learned so much and connected with some amazingly talented ladies!  What I took away from the conference was more than I ever expected, I have motivation and goals (big ones)!  I look at my little blog in a new way, and have a sense of pride that I’m not sure I had before.  I cannot thank Tiffany and Fran enough for coming to Minnesota, it was an amazing experience!

I also had the chance to attend a preconference party put on by one of the sponsors, Mirassou Wine.

There was a hand full of us there, my bloggy friend Nancy from Do Small Things With Love, came with me and we had a blast!  Not only did we get the chance to enjoy a five course wine and pairing meal without kids rushing us, we also had the chance to learn about the company from David Mirassou himself.

It’s not every day that I get the chance to enjoy such awesome food and amazing company (ok, maybe I do, my family is pretty awesome) but I did last weekend.  Mirassou showed me that my blog was important, I was doing something that people where interested in and I had an important part of this internet and social media thing.  I never would have imagined being included in such an amazing event back when I first started my site!

They really know how to make a girl feel spoiled and appreciated!  I cannot thank them enough for sponsoring the conference and including me in the preconference party where I found my new favorite wine!  The Mirassou Moscato is my now my go to wine and I’m not ashamed to say, we have gone through a couple bottles already.

How exciting! I’m glad you got to experience that! I’m looking forward to attending my first in the Spring and love the idea of being surrounding by amazing, like-minded women!

I totally understand what you mean! I started mine for a couple of girls and I to share our sewing projects and food adventures around town, but I am surprised at how supportive people are! I think I’m a ways off from attending a blog conference, but I attended my first social event this weekend! It was so fun, and even though it was social, I learned a couple of tips from my fellow attendees. 🙂
