Campers Crunch Trail Mix

July 14, 2013   |   3 Comments

Have you gone camping this summer or are you planning to?  Is trail mix one of the yummy treats that you take along with you when you are camping or hiking trails?  We have a yummy twist on S’mores with this Campers Crunch Trail Mix recipe that my kids loved.

Last week we shared a Backyard Camping post here at The Taylor House that was full of ideas on how to make a backyard camping lots of fun.  It was complete with lots of fun ways to make a summer staycation at home feel like a exciting and adventurous vacation.  Be sure to stop and read that post for some ideas.

In our backyard, we really didn’t have a fire pit or place to have a fire without damaging the yard, plants or sprinkler system.  So, the boys didn’t have a place to roast marshmallows or make S’mores.  I found a way to make them a yummy trail mix that was perfect for camping.

How to make Campers Trail Mix

Ingredients

  • 6 Cups of Golden Grahams Cereal
  • 1/2 Bag of Mini Marshmallows
  • 1/2 Bag of Chocolate and Peanut Butter Chips

Instructions

Mix together all the ingredients and divide it into individual baggies for the kids to eat on the go

This would also make an easy after school or any time snack idea.  You can make many different versions of trail mix that will be new and unique ideas for your family  with simple ingredients or by just putting together left over ingredients like the last of a box of cereal, crackers, cookies, nuts, raisins, etc.

My boys loved this treat!  They had a fun backyard camping sleepover with friends and this was one of the snacks they had.  It was a big hit and we will be making it again soon!

My son saw this photo when I was commenting on something else on your blog and said I want to make that! We’ll have to give this a try – it looks good.

So much fun! I love trail mix! I wonder if it would taste the same with Cinnamon Toast Crunch? (That’s my ultimate “treat” cereal!)
