Back to school is right around the corner, so many of our friends in other states are starting back this week or next week! Here in Minnesota we have until after Labor Day before we start back, but that is just a couple short weeks away!
Last year I put together a little Back to School party for my boys. They actually came home to this fun little party after their first day and had the treats and goodies as their back to school snack for the first day. They loved it and asked me to have a party for them every year. I’m sure as they continue to get older they won’t think this is nearly as cool.
For their Back to School party, I used some printables that I found online, made some little treats and even put together a basket of goodies for each of them. Fun!
We had some cute mini cupcakes that I used toothpicks to stick the little printable flags into as the cupcake toppers. They were adorable and tasted delicious too! You can find the printable set for yourself over at The Sweetest Occasion.
I made them each a little basket with a book, some note pads, erasers, raisins and their favorite candy treat. They loved the surprise!
I found the lined paper at The Dollar Tree and stuck a little Love, Mom note on it and placed it at the top of their plate with a school bus cookie that I found at the local grocery store. Actually, pretty much everything that I used for the party was very inexpensive and purchased from The Dollar Tree.
Going back to school after the summer isn’t always the most fun but by having some activities like back to school crafts or even a simple little party like this one, your kids will maybe even look forward to going back.
What type of things do you do with your kids to start off the new year? I would love to hear about your traditions!

Thanks for sharing at The Kid’s Co-Op last week. I featured your post this week — and pinned it to my Back to School Pinboard.
We take a photo outside our house in the same spot each year and the kids get to pick what I make for their back to school dinner.
I love this idea, gives mama something to look forward to as well, so it’s not so sad seeing them off to school. I am featuring this post on my Kid’s Co-Op post this week at Triple T Mum!
Love your Back to School Party! I’ve featured it on my post for First Day of School Resources on the After School Party. Thanks for sharing! Can’t wait to see what you share this week!
Your party looks adorable. I’m sure your kids loved it. I’m so not ready for school to start. I’m having too much fun with them this summer. Thanks for sharing at the After School Party.
This sounds so awesome! This is my first year homeschooling my younger kids and we started school early in July. I feel horrible I didn’t do anything special to get them started. Now I’m wondering if throwing them a little 30 days of school party would be a good idea. Thanks for the tip!
The dollar tree is pretty awesome! And your party turned out great too! Thanks for linking up to Monday Funday!
That sounds like a cool idea. I the fact your boys are celebrating the start of a new school year! Thanks for the idea.
Cute party! Back to School parties are still fun even though my kids are now 11 and 12 years old. I love having an excuse to have a bit of fun and purposely talk about school goals for the new year.
