Children Crafts: Homemade Sidewalk Paint

Hey there! It’s Jessica from Prairie Girl to Southern Belle. Can you believe it’s May?! Where has this year gone? There are only 16 days left of school for my kiddo (less for the little guy) and I’ll have a bit more craziness at home. Everyday.

No, seriously, I can’t wait for summer. Hopping in the car and heading to the lake, lazy mornings, relaxed schedule, more snuggles…I can’t wait.

A couple of weeks ago we were testing out our good ol’ sidewalk paint recipe. It had been almost a year since we had done it and it was a perfect day.  Since we’re getting to that outside time of year, I thought I’d share our recipe for fun with you!

In your muffin tins, add 1 heaping Tbsp cornstarch and fill almost to top with water. Leave enough room to stir and so you won’t spill on your way outside.  Stir well and add food coloring. Stir again and that’s it!  Super quick and easy. That’s the best kind of kid craft!

Now grab some paint brushes and pull up a square of sidewalk and have at it.

When you paint, it will just look like colored water, but when it dries it really shows up.

How about you? Do you have any easy recipes for outdoor fun?
