My favorite part of the holiday season is spending time with my family.
What do we usually do when we are together? Eat! Everyone around the table sharing a delicious meal, what could be better?
I will always have memories of my Mom making way too much food and I am so very blessed to have had this trait passed on to me. When we plan a meal for Christmas or Thanksgiving, you would think we were feeding an entire town instead of the 14 people in our immediate family. This past Thanksgiving, we had roughly 30 people for the meal and we had at least TEN desserts! You can never have too many desserts but I wonder if this may be pushing the limits just a little bit.
Everyone squeezing in at the table, sharing a prayer, casual talk and some amazing food; these are the best parts of the holiday. Family meals bring everyone together, and it doesn’t matter what we have gone through during the year, for a moment we are reunited to enjoy each other’s company. These are the times that we will always remember.
If you really stop and think about things, it doesn’t matter where you eat or what you eat when you get together. What is important is who you are with and the fact that you are together for the holiday. Let’s be realistic for a moment, sometimes it just doesn’t work to get together at a certain person’s house every single time. Maybe the Grandma that always hosts Christmas has the flu or maybe that Aunt who loves to entertain is working extra hours without time to prepare for guests. This is when you don’t give up on spending time together but instead you decide to all gather at a restaurant and let someone else take care of the meal. Doesn’t sound all bad?
One of my favorite restaurants is Red Lobster, I love crab legs and theirs are amazing! We have had many family meals at Red Lobster and the best part is that you don’t have to cook or clean up! Plus, everyone gets to order exactly what they want.
We have several people on our Christmas shopping list and give many people gift cards to restaurants. I like to get gift cards that are valid at multiple locations like the Darden Restaurants gift card. It is valid at Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Red Lobster, Bahama Breeze, and Seasons 52. When you give a Darden gift card, you can be sure that they can use it on any type of food that they enjoy. These make great gifts for hard to buy for people like teachers, Grandparents, or Parents. We all love an evening out, enjoying delicious food that we didn’t have to cook ourselves!
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Darden. I received a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.
