Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt

November 25, 2013   |   6 Comments

I have shared a bunch of Simple Scavenger Hunt ideas here at The Taylor House over the last year everything from our Nature Scavenger Hunt for Kids to the Thanksgiving Scavenger Hunt.  Kids really seem to enjoy searching for and finding things on a list.  Who knew?!

I thought that a Christmas Scavenger Hunt would be fun and actually saw a few ideas for this on Pinterest last year so I decided to put together our own version and share a FREE Printable with you!  This could be a new Christmas family tradition that you start with your kids, something that they look forward to each year!

How to Use the Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt

First, you need to print out our FREE Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt printable.  I like to stick mine on a clip board for the kids and give them each a different colored pen or marker.

There are a couple different ways that you could play this.  You could give each of your kids a copy and go on a drive looking at all the lights and decorations while they find everything on the list.  They could work together as a team and help each other or it could be a fun competition for them.

You could also break up into teams and cars, Mom and son against Dad and daughter.  Head out and see which team can find everything first.  If your family is super competitive, this could be really fun!

I love to go out looking at Christmas light, especially when it’s snowing and everything looks so magical.  Be sure to take a thermos of Peppermint Hot Chocolate with you or have some ready when you get back along with some yummy cookies like our Chewy Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip Cookies.  Your kids will be so excited!

What type of traditions do you do at Christmas time with your kids?  I’d love to hear!

This is seriously genius! Shared on my blog FB page and personal one too and I’m about to pin it to save for next year too. And let’s be totally honest here…I love that this means I can do something fun and out of the house where all three kids are strapped in car/booster seats and I don’t have to chase anyone!
