Christmas Shortbread Cookies and Christmas Giveaway

December 4, 2013   |   21 Comments

Christmas Shortbread Cookies have to be one of the best Christmas cookies to make during the holidays.  Make them even better by dipping half of the cookie in chocolate and adding sprinkles, yum!  Today we have a delicious recipe to share with you and an amazing Christmas Giveaway too!

Thanksgiving is over and the Christmas season is upon us, that means decorating, baking, shopping, wrapping and all the fun parts of this time of year.  Last year I made sell over 1000 cookies on my own, with 20 different varieties.  It was a little bit crazy around The Taylor House.  This year we have an early celebration and I’m cutting back on the amount of cookies that I’m making, there just isn’t time to get all of the two dozen types on my list in before our first gathering.

I’m picking a few new cookies to make and a few of my traditional cookies and I’m getting them done this week.  The first cookie that I have to share with you is a Christmas shortbread cookies dipped in chocolate (I use CandiQuik, it’s my favorite!)

How to Make Christmas Shortbread Cookies Dipped In Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 3 Cups Butter {room temperature}
  • 1 1/2 Cups Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 6 Cups Flour
  • 3 Egg Yolks
  • 1/2 tsp. Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tsp. Almond Extract
  • 3 TBSP Milk

Christmas Shortbread Cookies

Instructions

Step 1 – Cream together butter, brown sugar and sugar.

Step 2 – Gradually add in the egg yolks, vanilla, almond, and milk

Step 3 – Add the flour in until it all incorporated

Step 4 – Roll the dough into a log and wrap in plastic wrap, chill for 30 minutes.

Step 5 – Cut into 1/2 slices to make round cookies.

Step 6 – Bake in 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes, be sure to pull them out of the oven before they are completely done and let them finish baking on the pan.

Step 7 – Melt one package of Chocolate CandiQuik and dip half of the cookie in the chocolate.  Add sprinkles on top.  Place the cookies on wax paper to let them dry before stacking or freezing.  Enjoy!
