If your kids are anything like mine, the first thing out of their mouth when they walk in the door is “Can I have a snack?”.  Going all day at school with one meal is a little hard for my boys; they are always starving when they come in the door.  It’s like they haven’t eaten in days!

I like to be prepared for them by having things on hand that they can grab and munch on while they do their homework or play after school.  Instead of Mom having to help them every time they need I snack, we have a pretty nice system at The Taylor House when it comes to snacks.

How to Create A Super Simple After School Snack Station

Creating an after school snack station for your kids is really simple and handy; your kids will know right where their snacks are and won’t have to ask a hundred times for you to help.  Plus, they will have the snacks that you approve of right at their fingertips.

I have a basket on the bottom shelf of our pantry, it’s labeled “snacks” and my boys know that’s where they go after school to find something to munch on.  I always fill it with things they love like Mott’s Snack & Go, bananas, etc.  We also have a bin in the refrigerator where there are cheese sticks, sliced meet, and juice pouches.

If I left the decision up to my kids they would pick chocolate bars and all sorts of candy, they love junk food to have as a snack but they need healthy alternatives to fill them up after school.  I love that Mott’s Snack & Go come in several flavor options like Natural or Strawberry so my boys can pick what they want.

Mott’s® Snack & Go is the nutritious applesauce kids love in a squeezable pouch they can take with them wherever they go. Mott’s is also the only applesauce brand with Box Tops for Education®, helping to support kids’ schools. Visit us at Motts.com to learn more.

Another great part of having a snack station set up is that when we are walking out the door to soccer or to run errands and they are hungry, they know where to go to grab a snack that is easy to transport and eat on the go.

I hope that creating your own Snack Station for your kids will help you save time and provide a great way to give your kids healthy snack options after school!  I’d love to hear who you keep snack time organized and ready for your kids!

This is a great idea. We have a teenager at home now, and she’s pretty good at picking her snacks. But… I honestly need the organization and help! This would be good to keep me focused as well so that I’m grabbing my own healthy snack. Thanks for the idea. I have some baskets on a shelf that would be perfect!
