Date Night at Home #dinnerin15

January 31, 2013   |   8 Comments

datenight

How often do you take time for a date night with your  spouse?  If you are like me, it doesn’t happen enough!  We get caught up in life with kids and all the responsibilities parents have these days.  I love spending time with my boys, but I really do enjoy spending alone time with my hubby.  One of the reasons that we don’t get out much is because of how difficult finding a sitter is but there are other options!

Date Night At Home

Just because you can’t go out for dinner or a movie, doesn’t mean you can’t have a fun date night.  Get creative and enjoy a date night at home!  It doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive, the important thing is that you are spending time together!

The other night I planned a last minute date night at home for my hubby.  First, I decided to try a new recipe and surprise him with it.  I had just eaten at a wonderful restaurant in Minneapolis and wanted to try and recreate it as best I could. I created a menu for our date night and then got to work!

While I was out shopping, at Cub Food, I found a new Campbell’s Skillet Sauces for two in the soup and boxed meals area of the store and thought it would be perfect to create a Margherita Chicken Pizza.

I started with two chicken breasts and the Fire Roasted Tomato Skillet Sauce.  I diced the chicken breasts into bite size pieces.

Then I cooked the chicken breasts in some olive oil on the stove until they were thoroughly cooked.

After the meat was cooked, I added in the Campbell’s Skillet Sauce and cooked according to the package directions.

While the chicken was cooking, I cut up some fresh Mozzarella and Basil.

Next, Layer your chicken mixture on a pizza crust.  Add the mozzarella and basil on top as well as some fresh parmesan cheese.

Then pop it in the oven for about 10 minutes, just long enough for the cheese to get melted and slightly browned.

I could hardly wait to eat while it was in the oven.  It looked and smelled so good!

While the Pizza was in the oven, I took a few minutes to set the table.  I added a bunch of candles to make our date night at home special.

When we finally sat down to eat together, the pizza was delicious!

No date night is complete without a delicious dessert!  This is a simple chocolate pudding pie that took me 15 minutes to put together using just mini graham cracker crust, chocolate pudding, topping, and a peanut butter candy on top.

By using the Campbell’s Skillet Sauces I was able to make a delicious dinner for two that took less than 30 minutes.  This makes creating a special evening at home easy and quick.  Cutting the stress out of making the meal, makes creating date night at home so simple!

If you want to give the new Campbell’s Skillet sauces a try, there are six scrumptious varieties; Creamy Chipotle, fire Roasted Tomato, Toasted Sesame, Marsala, Scampi, and Thai Green Curry.  Be sure to check the fresh beef, chicken and shrimp for a coupon when you purchase a Skillet Sauce.
