DIY: How to Revive Your Metal Decor

August 2, 2013   |   1 Comment

This post is brought to you by Jessica at Prairie Girl to Southern Belle.
How have you revived old pieces around your house?  Have you painted furniture or maybe even transformed an old object into something new?  Today, Jessica, is sharing how she revived her metal décor into a new and beautiful piece!
Do you have a metal piece around your house that you like but could use a little pick me up?

It is so easy to give them a new life!  First, make sure your piece is clean. You don’t want to paint any dust into it….not that your things are dusty. I’m sure you are on top of everything and your piece is free of the layer of dust that mine had.
Then prime it. It’s the right thing to do. I love Kilz. It’s the best.
After the primer is dry, give it a couple of coats of your favorite paint color. You have a choice here. Do you want a solid color? Or maybe you’d like that old roughed up look. If you like that look, you don’t have to get in every nook with the brush.
If you’re roughing it up, make sure your paint is dry and go at it with sand paper. Sand as much or as little as you like.
I love how this looks!  It is beautiful against the grey/blue too!
Now go hang it up and love it!
What projects have you done lately?  I love hearing about DIY and craft ideas that are simple and beautiful!

Stop by the blog or on my Facebook page and let me know if you try it! I’d love to hear how it turned out for you!
