Easy Weeknight Chili Bar

March 4, 2015   |   18 Comments

Thank you Hormel and Evite for sponsoring this post. The opinions in this post are 100% mine.

Minnesota is known for it’s brutal winters with all the snow and cold temperatures.  Nothing warms you up in the evening like a delicious bowl of tasty chili! I’ve joined with Hormel today to bring you a simple and fun idea for an Easy Chili Bar that you can put together with your friends and family with their amazing chili!

Easy Weeknight Chili Bar using Hormel Chili and Evite!

How to Create an Easy Chili Bar

My kids loved this because they could make their own delicious Chili Dishes that they wanted for dinner.  I had several options for them including Chili Fries, Chili Dogs, Chili Cheese Nachos, and Chili Loaded Baked Potatoes.

How I created my chili bar was so easy!  I put my Hormel Chili into a small slow cooker to heat up and have it available whenever the family was ready to eat.  I did the same thing with the fries, hot dogs and baked potatoes.  You can read below on how to make slow cooker baked potatoes that is so simple!

Next, I put out everything that we needed for the chili bar on the counter and let everyone pick what they wanted.  It was so much fun and such a delicious dinner idea!

How to Make Slow Cooker Baked Potatoes

This is the easiest way to make baked potatoes and keep them warm until you’re ready to eat! All you need to do is wrap the baked potatoes in tin foil and poke some holes in the potato with a fork.  Place the potatoes in your slow cooker on low for 6 hours!  They’re ready to eat after that!

Host a Chili Cook Off Party

Another fun idea that we saw was to host a Chili Cook Off Party where you sample all the different chili options and then vote on your favorite!  I absolutely LOVE this idea and you can read about all the details yourself over at Evite as well as find some adorable free printables including the banner, rules sign, scorecards and even award tags that you could use for your party.

I think this is a great idea for Football parties, in place of Potlucks, family get togethers or when you just want to have a fun time with friends and family!

Oh my goodness! That weeknight chili bar is a fabulous idea! It all looks and sounds so good. I swear I can almost smell that chili! I never even thought of making baked potatoes in the crock pot – that is ingenious! My kids love baked potatoes too. 🙂

What a neat idea! With 5 of us, it’s hard always finding that one thing all of us like. A chili bar would be perfect for a quick meal that let’s everyone make what they want and like!

I love all of these ideas! We love chili here but of course, love it on different things and with different toppings. This solves that issue 🙂

I love this idea! Only the adults in our household like chili, but this way the adults get a little variety and the kids have some of their favorites (hot dogs, fries). We are expecting another winter storm later today and tonight, so now I’m thinking chili sounds awesome!
