Fall Decorating: Pumpkin Art

September 13, 2013   |   1 Comment

Hey, everyone!  Jessica from Prairie Girl to Southern Belle is back this week with a super cute and easy Fall Decorating idea for us!  I love how adorable and simple this project is!
Have you started your fall decorating?  This week I have a quick project to give your home a bit of that fall color that is so fun this time of year!
fall decorating
I started with a frame from Hobby Lobby. I picked it up in the unfinished wood section.  I had painted it black for a different project a couple of years back.  This time I wanted the fresh, crisp look of a white frame. Distressed, of course.
To paint the frame, I used my new favorite technique.  I turned my regular old latex paint into chalk paint by adding plaster of Paris. You can read more about that by reading this post.

While my paint was drying I covered the insert that came with the frame with a piece of burlap. Simply hot glue it to the back.  I didn’t worry about it being too straight.  Tapping lightly with a hammer, I placed the insert back in the frame. The burlap makes it slightly bigger than before.
Now just hot glue the pumpkins onto the burlap covered insert. I picked these up at Hobby Lobby. They came in a box that had two different sizes. These are the smaller pumpkins. I’ll use the larger pumpkins in a different project.

That’s it! Pretty easy peasy!
