What if I told you that you could buy clothing (and other products) that are made from recycled plastic bottles? Did you know that was even possible? How good would it feel to know that the purchase you made was also helping the environment? I was immediately sold on this idea as soon as I heard about it because it just makes sense!
The outfit I’m wearing in this post is made by a company called prAna, and the Mantra pants and Rosalie top that you see are some of the amazing products made from the recycled bottles.
I’ve talked to a ton of people about these and the idea of using recycled materials in clothing and the first question everyone always asks me – do they feel like plastic? Nope, they’re incredibly soft and comfortable with no plastic feel what so ever!
They’re actually made with a product called Repreve. Repreve is a trusted, recycled fiber that is eco-friendly because it’s made with recycled materials such as plastic bottles. You can see and read much more information about Repreve on the chart below!
Unifi is the textile manufacturer that makes the polyester yarn called REPREVE, which is made from 100% recycled plastic bottles (the kind with PET #1 on the bottom). In turn, their customers take the yarn and spin it into all sorts of things – workout clothes (ex. Waterlust and Totemmi), bathing suits (ex. Vitamin A and Finch), home goods, baby products (ex. The Stair Barrier and Tekhni Baby Sling), and even cloth seats in cars!
You can find the pants that I’m wearing HERE and the shirt HERE.
The best part about this outfit is how comfortable it is! I feel like I’m wearing my pajamas during the day because the pants are so light and comfy! If I could get them in 7 different colors and wear them every day of the week I would!
Plus, I’m doing my part by being environmentally responsible! I know I’ve drunk my fair share of bottled water over the years, so this is a way that I can help out!
How do you help the environment? Have you ever thought of purchasing products made with recycled materials?
Disclosure: I’m thrilled to have partnered with Repreve on this post!
