Five Secrets for Curls that Last All Day

March 6, 2017   |   Leave a Comment

How doesn’t want to have soft bouncy curls that last all day? I think I’ve finally perfected my technique and have five secrets for curls that last all day to share with you! Be sure you check out the Five Beauty Secrets All Women Need to know too, there are some great hair tips!

Five Secrets for Curls that Last All Day

I have super fine hair that’s almost impossible to curl because it will not keep it! I tried for years but within hours the curls were waves and pretty soon back to almost straight hair. It was so frustrating! I wanted those beautiful curls that would make my hair look full and beautiful but I just wouldn’t get the hang of it.

What the heck was I doing wrong? It ended up being a lot of things! Ha!

After years of practice, experimenting and keeping at it; I’ve finally found a method that works on my pencil straight hair and I wanted to share my five secrets for curls that last all day!

Five  Secrets for Curls that Last All Day

Use the Right Product

What was I thinking? I never used anything but hairspray after I curled my hair and boy was that not the right way to use products! What I’ve found is that I need to actually use a little bit of mousse throughout my hair prior to curling as well as a heat protectant.

Another trick I’ve found is to use a Dry Shampoo on my roots after I’ve used a bit of mousse throughout. This helps me to have a little more texture and keep my hair from getting too oily.

After I’ve curled my hair, I put a bit more mousse on my hands and lightly go through the curls to break them up a little bit and finally spray with hairspray before finishing!

Use the Right Tools

I gave up the curling iron long ago and use a curling wand now. I love it, I actually just wind the hair around the wand and hold it for a few seconds. I’m pretty sure that it gets a lot hotter than my old curling irons ever did! So be careful and try not to burn your hands!

Use a Clip

Buy a package of clips to hold your curls until they cool.  Right after you’ve released the curls from the wand, clip them up to the top of your head for a few minutes and let them cool.  This helps them to hold the curl and stay in place.

Curl in Layers

I actually divide my hair in half from the ears up and clip the top hair up while I start to curl the bottom layer. This helps to give it a full look and believe me, I need it! My hair is super fine so I need to create the illusion of thick beautiful hair!

Use Your Fingers

Instead of using a comb or brush to separate your curls, use your fingers! Like I mentioned above, I put a little mousse on my fingers and then lightly go through the curls. It helps to break them up but keep the curls in tact and not pull them out by using a brush.

After you have your hair looking beautiful for the day, be sure to check out some of our DIY Beauty Tips and Tricks like our Chocolate Peppermint Lip Gloss– You can make this in minutes!
