Who LOVES (and is slightly obsessed with) Fixer Upper? Last month a couple of friends and I made our way to Waco for an amazing day of shopping at Magnolia Market and delicious food. I wanted to share the trip with you guys because I know that so many of you love Joanna Gains, her show and her style of decorating!
First of all, I want to highly encourage that you take the time for a girls trip this year. It doesn’t have to be flying across the country to Waco, it could be a weekend at one of your friend’s homes eating pizza and watching movies but take the time to do it.
This trip was amazing for several different reasons but the time with friends was by far the best. I’ll even admit that I hadn’t met everyone on this trip before we left, but I left feeling extremely connected to all of these ladies after just three short days.
We spent a full day in Waco at Magnolia Market just shopping, eating and enjoying being in the place where our favorite TV show started. It’s exactly like you would expect it to be too, perfectly old buildings with amazingly manicured lawns. Just the right amount of everything we wanted to see.
I have a couple tips on this that you HAVE to do when you go to Magnolia and I wanted to share them with you.
It’s Crazy Busy!
Be prepared for the shop to be crazy busy, we’re talking this is like Disney World for the ladies. Remember you will have to wait in lines to check out and order food. Be prepared.
Considering going on a weekday instead of the weekend, like everything else weekends are always busier!
Even though it’s incredibly busy, everyone is so happy to be there and in a great mood! That includes the staff, they were all extremely pleasant and happy to help with everything. I even asked for some food recommendations and was pointed in the right direction.
Plan to take stuff home!
If you’re flying to Waco and shopping, go prepared with either an extra suitcase or plan to ship items home. Magnolia Market has a Fed Ex shipping station on the property so you can easily ship home your treasures.
If you’re like me and want to put your items in their place as soon as you walk in the door to your house, take an empty suitcase for packing.
Even if you think you won’t buy much, I think you probably will and it’s best to be prepared!
Try the coffee!
If you’re a true Fixer Upper fan, you’ve probably seen the episode where Joanna and Chip help the owners of Common Grounds Coffee shop find and fix up their perfect home. Well, there’s a Common Grounds at Magnolia Market! You can grab a cup of hot coffee and shop the day away.
Here’s the thing, Common Grounds coffee is probably the best coffee I’ve ever had in my life. It has a smooth taste with a delicious secret sauce that’s to die for. I crave this coffee every single day and have to fight the urge of buying a plane ticket just to go get a cup in the morning. Guys, it’s really that good!
Go with the girls!
I’m going to be completely honest with this, I think it’s best to go with your lady friends. I don’t think my husband would have enjoyed it as much as they did, and experiencing it together with the excitment of everything made it so much more fun!
I really don’t think it’s a place for kids either, it’s so busy and there’s a lot of breakable items that are right at their level. I think it’s best to leave the little ones at home for this trip!
Plan to eat at Magnolia!
There are so many food trucks with delicious items, plus the outdoor space is lovely! Plan to enjoy something delicious while you’re there! I had a gourmet grilled cheese that was amazing
Try the cupcakes!
Here’s something amazing, there’s a delicious bakery on the Magnolia grounds and they’re to die for! Make sure you leave room after lunch for a sweet treat or take one with you to the hotel to enjoy later. Trust me on this one!
Have you ever been to Magnolia? What did you think and buy? Was it as amazing as you expected it to be? I’d love to hear!
