Who’s planning a Girls Weekend with your besties? Let’s be honest, what could be better than shopping, food, spa and fun? Earlier this month, I had the chance to spend three days at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota and I quickly decided that it was the PERFECT place for a girls weekend. Let me show you some of my favorites and then I know you’re going to want to plan your next trip!
Mall of America isn’t actually that far from me, roughly a four hour drive from the middle of Iowa. It’s a great vacation option that’s not too far but still got me away from home. The drive up was pretty sketchy, as in blizzard but you guys, NOTHING was going to keep me from some awesome shopping. NOTHING!
The best part of this trip, once I got to Mall of America, I was in and didn’t have to think about leaving for three days. Yep, I stayed at the amazing Radisson Blu hotel that’s attached to the mall. I didn’t have to step a foot outside, everything I needed and wanted was right there.
Where to Stay
Radisson Blu – This hotel is probably one of the coolest hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Just look at the photo of the lobby to get a feel for what I mean!
Attached to the Mall of America, this hotel is the perfect location to stay. Also, if you fly in, there are shuttles every 30 minutes to the airport.
I’m going to be completely honest now, the part of the trip that I was most excited about was the food. Shocking right? I spent a good amount of time looking up the restaurants we were going to and pouring over the menu’s to decide what I wanted to have. Of course, once I got there, that all went out the window and I ended up getting something completely different. Usually something the waitress or the chef recommended. All in all, hands down some of the best food around.
Don’t think that going to Mall of America is a place where you have only food court options. They have some amazing restaurant options to pick from. I had to share my favorites with you. These are places that I would absolutely make a priority to go to again!
Where to Eat
Twin Cities Grill – Is an American Grill with a very comfortable environment and delicious homemade comfort food. You’ll find everything from the perfect steak to walleye. The food is amazing any time of the day.
Burger Burger – I’m going to go out on a limb here but I’m pretty sure this is the BEST burger I’ve ever had. I had the Mac Daddy, that was not just the burger and toppings but there was actual cheese bites on it as well. I’ve made a decision that all burgers should come with cheese bites on them. It was life changing. Don’t forget to order fries and my recommendation for sauce is the Guacamole Ranch. Yum!
Cedar & Stone – This restaurant is located in the new JW Marriott and is the place to go if you’re a looking for some new dishes to try. The corn bread topped with a maple syrup butter was outstanding as well as the BLT pizza. Bring your appetite, the portions are a little bit larger.
Zio Italian – Zio is the only place to experience authentic Italian food at the Mall of America. With everything from pizza to pasta, you’ll love this homemade family meal type restaurant. Save room for dessert, the sorbet is amazing!
What to Do
Solimar Spa – A true Girls Weekend isn’t complete without a visit to the spa. Right? Staying at the Raddison Blu at Mall of America is perfect for a spa day because they have Solimar Spa located right there at the hotel. I spent a morning getting pampered with an amazing French Wine Facial that left my face glowing and my mood amazing. I cannot recommend Solimar enough. They have great monthly deals as well so be sure to check those out!
Nickelodeon Universe – Girls like to have fun too! Nickelodeon Universe is complete with roller coasters, zip line, Ferris wheel and much more. Make sure to spend a few hours just having some fun being a kid again!
SHOP!! – Ok, the main reason to go to Mall of America is to shop. I mean let’s be real here there are stores for everyone. If you spent 10 minutes in every store at MOA, it would take you 87 hours to make it through all of them. That means there is some awesome shopping!!
