Summer BBQ Tips and Grilled Asparagus Salad

May 10, 2016   |   1 Comment

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Kingsford Charcoal and Glad . The opinions and text are all mine.

Summer is here at last!  We’ve moved into our new house and I’m ready to start entertaining friends and family this summer with some fun BBQ’s and that means delicious food! Who doesn’t love the taste of an amazing grilled burger or steak?  My mouth starts to water when I think about getting the charcoal out and starting the grill, being in Iowa we only have a few months out of the year to grill so we get started as soon as the air is just starting to warm up!

I thought I’d share a few of my Summer BBQ tips with you and I even have a yummy Grilled Asparagus Salad recipe that you’ll want to make again and again.  It’s so easy and delicious!

Summer BBQ Tips

Go with Charcoal – Trust me on this, your food get’s such an amazing flavor when you use charcoal vs. a gas grill.  I know, you’re thinking that charcoal is so much more work but it’s really not.  I picked up a bag of Kingsford Match Light at Walmart and I was ready to grill in about ten minutes flat!  My asparagus really had that grilled, smokey flavor that I was going for too! You’ll probably need a bigger grill than this one, it’s my little camping grill but it’s perfect to use when I’m making recipes like the Grilled Asparagus Salad!

Have Options – When you’re hosting a Summer BBQ, not everyone is going to want burgers.  I like to grab a package of Hot Dogs for the kids, a few chicken breasts and burgers.  This way we have something that just about everyone will enjoy!

Use Disposable – Trust me on this, there’s nothing worse than having to wash 50 different plates and cups after a big Summer BBQ.  We like to use paper products and have a large garbage can outside that’s easy for people to find and use!

Summer Drinks – It’s probably going to be hot out when you host a BBQ so make sure you have drink options for everyone.  Not everyone likes to have alcohol so make some Homemade Strawberry Lemonade for the rest of the guests and the kids!  They will love it!

Games Are Good – We have some fun outdoor games that kids and adults love.  There are actually several options at Walmart if you’re looking for some ideas, they make it really easy to plan and host a fun Summer BBQ party!  We have a Cornhole game that gets used at every single BBQ!

Think Ahead – Usually when we host a BBQ, everyone brings a salad or something to share.  BUT, it never fails that everyone forgets to bring along a lid or cover to put on the dish while it’s outside or taking home.  I use Glad Press & Seal all the time and I think it’s a great option to have on hand for parties and BBQ’s.  This way, you can cover up food when it’s outside, it goes on and comes off easy.  I always have a couple rolls at our get togethers!
