Creating a custom gift wrap that looks cute and isn’t your normal wrapping paper with Santa on it can sometimes be a challenge. I love using unique items to wrap gifts in to give to friends and family. Today I have a simple burlap that I painted with Candy Cane Stripes using some awesome new FrogTape Textured Surface tape, paint and burlap. It couldn’t have been easier to make!
Every crafter knows the frustration of working on textured surfaces. Stucco might be great for spanish influence architecture but it’s NOT great for creating an easy accent wall with stripes! There have been so many times when I have painted a textured wall that I had taped off only to find the paint seeped under the tape so I didn’t have a crisp line. This happens with my craft projects too when I use tape on them.
I was excited to try the FrogTape® Textured Surface tape to see how it worked on a surface like my burlap, I wanted to be sure I had a nice line that didn’t have paint that bled under the tape to make it look messy. This tape worked so well!
How to Make Homemade Gift Wrap
Materials You Need
Roll of Burlap
Red Paint
Paint Brush
Instructions
Step 1 Apply Your FrogTape Textured Surface tape on the burlap in the patern you want to make, I made stripes like a candy cane
Step 2 – Apply the edge sealer to make sure the paint does not seep under the tape
Step 3 – Paint your stripes or the pattern that you decided to use and let the burlap dry
Step 4 – After the paint has dried, peel off your tape carefully
Step 5 – Use your burlap to wrap your gift, I used ribbon to tie mine shut
This is a pretty simple project and made such a cute wrapping for a gift I got my friend. I was so impressed by the lines that I was able to create with the Frog Tape ®, we have a rental house we are working on with old plaster walls that I am excited to use it on next!
