Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix Recipe, Perfect for gift giving!

November 27, 2012   |   22 Comments

When I was little, I remember my Mom making homemade hot cocoa for my brothers and I during the winter.  We would spend hours outside sledding, making snow forts and having snow ball fights.  My Mom would make a big crock pot full of Hot Cocoa that would was waiting for us when we came in.  It was the absolute best hot chocolate that I have ever had. So I wanted to share this Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix recipe with you today.
The only way to drink hot cocoa is with LOTS of whip cream and chocolate on top!  Delicious!

If you follow my recipe, it makes a ton of mix and would be perfect little gifts for teachers, friends, or neighbors.  I found these little flip top containers at The Dollar Tree and they work perfect.
Making a large batch in a crock pot at Holiday get togethers is always a big hit too!

Homemade Hot Cocoa
 25 oz. Powdered Milk
32 oz. Powdered Chocolate Mix
 16 oz. Powdered Creamer
 1 pound Powdered Sugar

Mix all ingredients together.  Use 1/2 cup in a mug of hot water. Add whip cream and chocolate sauce on top.  Enjoy!

Ingredients
  • 25 oz. Powdered Milk
  • 32 oz. Nesquik Chocolate Milk Powder
  • 16 oz. Powdered Creamer
  • 1 lb. Powdered Sugar
Instructions
  1. Mix all the ingredients together in a very large mixing bowl.
  2. Use about half a cup to one cup of boiling water (remember, a good portion of the mix is powdered milk and creamer– that’s why you use so much!). Mix well and enjoy!

Thanks for the recipe. I always use the unsweetened cocoa and sweeten it myself. Take care, Linda
