Homemade Play Dough with Glitter

February 2, 2014   |   Leave a Comment

I have always loved Homemade Play Dough but I don’t make it that often because my kids are getting older. Being in Minnesota this winter, we have had a lot of days inside with yucky weather and cold temperatures so on the last snow day I decided to have my little guy help me make a batch of Homemade Play Dough with glitter.

They loved the homemade play dough and have spent time every day making and creating things with it. I remember making this when I was a kid, it has one of those smells that I will forever have in my memory! I’m sure you know what I mean.

Instructions for making Homemade Play Dough

Step 1 – Place all the ingredients in a sauce pan and stir together adding the glitter last, it will resemble something similar to pancake batter

Step 2 – Cook over medium heat until it forms a ball, stir constantly

Step 3 – Place the ball of play dough on the counter to cool

Step 4 – Knead the play dough slightly to remove any lumps.  Store in a plastic container, this will keep for several weeks.

A small amount of glitter may come off the play dough but it cleans up very easily from hands and surfaces.

Give your kids cookie cutters and silverware to make some awesome play dough creations! This will keep them busy for hours!  If you’re teaching letters or numbers, have them make the letters or numbers out of the play dough!  This could be a great learning activity too.
