I wanted to make crochet hearts, but I could not find a pattern that I could follow. I fully admit that I cannot read patterns at all, I either figure it out myself or watch a You Tube video.
Anyway, I was able to pick up enough from a couple blogs and a video to figure out how tomake a pretty easy Crochet Heart.
Here is the basic pattern steps
Ch 4. Work 3 tr (triple crochet) into first ch, 3 dc, ch 1, 1 tr, ch 1, 3 dc, 3 tr. Ch 3, sl st into center and fasten off.
I wasn’t familiar with the triple crochet, so incase anyone else is in need of learning that stitch, I am going to try to explain it.
First, you start with chaining four.
Ok, for the triple crochet, you want to wrap around your hook twice.
Then, go through the fourth stitch from your hook.
Wrap the yarn around the hook again, you should have five loops on the hook at this time.
Pull through the first loop, leaving four on the hook.
Wrap around the hook again, so you have five on the hook again.
Pull through the first two loops, leaving three loops on the hook.
Wrap around the hook again, you will have four loops on the hook, and pull through only two loops again.
You have two loops left on the hook
Wrap around the hook again, and pull through booth loops that are left.
Leaving just the one loop left.
Proceed with doing 3 double crochets followed by chaining 1, then do another triple crochet ( this makes the point of your heart)
You work backwards then, doing 3 double crochets and then 3 triple crochets. Then chain 3, to match what you did at the start. And slip stitch and tie it off.
This is the end product, you need to clip your ends and kind of fluff the heart so it is the correct shape.
Once you get the hang of it, you can whip these out in minutes.
I made a quick and easy little bookmark, I added the heart to one of the flowers that I made (you can learn how to make a flower on my post, here) and then just attached it to a large paperclip that I picked up at Walmart.
I thought this would make a cute little gift for my boys Media/library teachers for Valentine’s. I just attached it to a little journal that I had. The little tag that is on it was a printable that I found over here.
