How to Make a DIY Dog Bed

December 20, 2016   |   Leave a Comment

Thank you Beneful for sponsoring this post.

Hey, guys. Have you seen my cute Lily’s new Instagram page?  She’s become quite the celebrity over there – well I think so anyway! We’ve really found that the dog community is so sweet and welcoming to new pups like her and I have found myself getting lost for hours looking at the sweet faces of all the different dogs and cats. There’s just something about these fur babies that tugs at your heartstrings.

I noticed so many different people make such cute beds, feeding stations, and more.  I decided I wanted to make Lily a cute new bed that would fit with the decor of our house. It was actually pretty easy too and she LOVES it.

We also filled her stocking with some fun new toys and of course her favorite Beneful food, treats and dental sticks! She might have gotten a little spoiled this year but look at this face!  How can you NOT want to love her!

Check out how to make your own DIY Dog Bed below!

Materials You Need

  • 1 Piece 24 x 17 inch Birch
  • 2 Pieces 17 inch 1 x 4 MDF
  • 1 Piece 25.5 inch 1 x 4 MDF
  • 1 Piece 25.5 inch 1 x 2 MDF
  • 2 Spindles 7 Inches
  • White Spray Paint
  • Wood Glue
  • Nail Filler

Instructions

Start by gluing the 17 inch pieces of MDF to the sides of the 24 x 17 inch piece of Birch.  Nail them into place after gluing.

Next add the 25.5 pieces of MDF to the back and front – the 1 x 2 piece should be in the front. Nail the pieces into place.

Spray paint the color of your choice.

A small crate mat will fit perfectly into the bed.

Do you spoil your furry babies at the Holidays or am I just crazy?  I’d love to hear!  Don’t forget to follow Lily over on Instagram too!
