Jim Cummings: The True Heart of Winnie the Pooh

August 6, 2018   |   7 Comments

Have you seen Christopher Robin yet? If not, you need to see it while it’s in theaters. I had the pleasure of seeing things behind the scenes. The movie is a great addition to the classic Winnie the Pooh character. Jim Cummings, the voice of Winnie the Pooh and Tigger really brings this movie to life! I’m excited to share even more with you, so stay tuned!

The Voice of Winnie the Pooh

I’ve heard of Jim Cummings before, but being able to interview him was amazing. Jim has been the voice of Winnie the Pooh for the past thirty years! I grew up on his voice, he is Winnie the Pooh! I am so thankful I got this opportunity!

As our interview started, he even talked in his Winnie the Pooh voice. This was the perfect way to start this interview and it without a doubt took me back to my childhood. Like the smell of a certain flower or perfume, his voice encompasses so much of my childhood that this seemed like I was in another dimension.

Jim Cummings has been the voice of Winnie since 1988. Isn’t that crazy? He’s done such a great job! In fact, my favorite part of the movie is when Jim talks as Winnie the Pooh, in the movie, for the first time.

For a good portion of the interview, Jim talked about the different voices he is known for. Some I knew and some surprised me! I had no idea he was/is the voice of Goofy. Another one of my favorite characters of my childhood.

Jim Cummings really helped me to understand the voices he creates for the characters. He does a good job with each character’s voice and I just loved hearing him talk about how he does it.

He’s More than Winnie the Pooh

Jim Cummings is way more than any voice he has done. He does an excellent job in Christopher Robin, but he is one of my favorite people of all time. He’s so funny and genuinely enjoyable to be around. While interviewing him, I can say I haven’t laughed that much in a long time.

I loved hearing how big of a deal the Christopher Robin was to Jim as a kid. His favorite actors were Tigger and Eeyore. I mean who doesn’t love Tigger and Eeyore?!

My favorite quote from the whole interview with Jim Cummings was when we asked him what he thought about the new movie.

“I think just staying true to the characters and true to the feeling is the way to go. And we’re right back there to square one with this and I just think it’s brilliant.”

My feelings exactly! The Christopher Robin is a perfect way to bring these characters back to life. The creators did such an excellent job.

Christopher Robin is NOW playing in theaters everywhere!

Okay, now I want to see Pooh even more. I just love hearing all the behind the scenes stories, I just want to hear his voice. What an honor to get to be the voice for so long.

I think it’s fantastic he’s been the voice of Pooh for so long. I want to take my daughter and any of my boys who wish to see this movie.

I’m not surprised that Jim Cummings turned out to be such a nice guy. Only the purest of heart could ever voice Pooh Bear!

That’s so cool about the voice of Winnie. My whole family, including my 30 year old daughter, wants to see this film. Now I will have some info to share!
