Loving My Pet: DIY Dry Shampoo For Dogs

February 22, 2015   |   1 Comment

I’m serving my dog Cesar® home delights™ as part of a sponsored series with Socialstars. #CesarHomeDelights

Remember last month when I shared some tips on a healthy lifestyle for your dog and my five tips on how to spoil your dog?  I am loving spending a little extra time focusing on my sweet Lily and sharing some great posts with information about dogs.

I thought I’d share a few more of the great ways we can show our pets some love, whether it’s with bath time, meal time or bed time.  Plus, we made a simple Homemade DIY Dry Shampoo for Dogs that’s a great way to keep our friends smell good even between bath days.

Great Ways to Show Your Dog Some Love

At Mealtime

A great way that I show Lily she’s loved is by giving her the food she wants and she LOVES Cesar® home delights™! She’s eating the dog version of what we eat at dinner, why wouldn’t she enjoy that!

I know that given the choice, Lily would be right up to the table eating roast and burgers along with us but let’s be real.  That’s never going to happen because our food is not good for her.  I certainly don’t want to end up with an overweight and unhealthy dog because she feasted on bacon too many times.  Right?!

That’s why I get her Cesar® home delights™ in different flavors so she can have almost the same thing as us when she has dinner.  Her favorite is the Beef Stew by far, when I put it out for her that meal is GONE in a matter of minutes.  She LOVES it!

At Bath time

I’m pretty sure that Lily knows when she looks pretty and smells good.  She prances a little bit and really acts like she’s big stuff.  She loves her bath, her hair blown out and getting brushed.  I know when she’s had knots in her hair, she really itches and digs at them which can’t feel very good.  Remembering that bath time is important and a great way to show our furry friends that we love them!

We made a DIY Dry Shampoo to use between baths!  it was simple to make and really works well!

Ingredients You Need

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1 cup corn starch
  • 10 drops essential

Mix everything together and sprinkle over your dog.

At Bedtime

Remember to show your dog some love with a comfortable place to sleep.  Truth be told, Lily sleeps with us.  I know, I never thought that would happen, ever!  But, gosh she sleeps so much better when she’s with me.

If you don’t let your dog sleep with you, be sure to have a comfy bed and blankets for them.  They don’t want to always sleep on the cold floor!

What essential oil do you use on Lilly? My sister and brother are really big on the oils and my sister often tells me that there are some out there just for pets. I have a little Havanese as well, she’s a bit of a tomboy, so it’s a constant struggle keeping her white clean. So I love your recipe and wanted to know if the oil mattered or not. My dog is a parti-colored Hav.
