NellieBellie, along with the Stillwater Visitor’s Bureau and The Taylor House, is hosting a meet-up for Minnesota bloggers this summer. And nearby Wisconsin bloggers. We don’t think it’s nice to exclude people just for being on the wrong side of the river.
Bloggers have some chances to get together for conferences, but not many chances to get together just for fun. Or mostly for fun.
This is that chance!
Yes, there will be a short social media talk in the morning, and chances to practice a few new techniques throughout the day, but this day is mostly for fun. A chance to get out, get together, and visit a beautiful town with a lot to offer. You’ll see that there’s only a few things on the schedule, and that is intentional. We want a semi-organized chance for all of us to get to know each other and learn a few new things.
As the date comes closer, we will continue to add fun tidbits to this page, with information on doorprizes, fun competitions, and a few other extras. Why isn’t all the information available now? Suspense, of course. And so we have more potential for good social media interactions. It would be silly for us to do a talk on great social media strategy and not use it ourselves. So you don’t get to know everything yet…just enough to RSVP and get it on your schedule.
What about my kids??? We have a “track” for the day specifically created with children in mind. Please e-mail us to let us know you will be bringing children, and we’ll send you that track. A few of the events remain the same, but several things change. Stillwater is a great city for children, but the antique stores are not the best place for them 🙂
June 21st Blogger Meet-Up Schedule of Events:
9am: Coffee Time
Location: Teddy Bear Park, Stillwater
Activities: Chatting, drinking coffee, having fun (maybe)
RSVP: Please RSVP to miznelliebellie@gmail.com or via the comment system. We need RSVPs to make sure we don’t run out of coffee. ‘Cause that would be horrible.
Cost: FREE!
10:00am(ish)-10:45(ish): Social Media Chat
*We thought about calling this a seminar, but that sounded boring. So we aren’t. It’s a chat. And will be much less boring than a seminar. And you’ll be allowed to get up and pee without judgement. Or even just leave. That’s right. You can do that. But judgement may happen, in that case.*
Location: Teddy Bear Park, Stillwater
Activity: We will be sharing tips and tricks to getting the most out of your social media presence. And we aren’t talking “you should post on Twitter, because it is good”…more like “this is what Buzzfeed can do for you if you do this…” and “Twitter doesn’t want links all the time…they want these things instead…” and “Facebook should die…because of these reasons…”. You get the point. We will skip the info you’ve found 500 times on the internet, and get down to specifics.
RSVP: Please RSVP to miznelliebellie@gmail.com or via the comment system. This is so we make sure to have the correct-sized space. And people aren’t forced to become best friends because they’re so squished.
Cost: FREE!
3:00: Picnic
Location: Pioneer Park, Stillwater
Activity: Eating, of course. And chatting. And enjoying the sun (hopefully). This is one more chance for people to get together and hang out. We will provide light snacks and beverages.
RSVP: Please RSVP to miznelliebellie@gmail.com or via the comment system. We need to know how much food to plan for.
Cost: FREE!
7:00: Social Hour
Location: Adorable place, Stillwater
Activity: This will be the last chance to meet up with people and chat. It will be at a restaurant, so people can get food or drinks.
RSVP: Please RSVP to miznelliebellie@gmail.com or via the comment system. We just need to make sure that we choose a restaurant that can accommodate everyone.
Cost: On Your Own. We’ll choose a reasonably-priced restaurant, but you are responsible for your own food and beverages. Sorry.
10:45-7:00: Shopping
Location: Wherever you want! In adorable Stillwater, of course.
Activity: We’ll have fun ideas and surprises for you, but this is basically a chance for you to hang out with some new people and enjoy the best of what Stillwater has to offer. There’s great antique stores, boutiques, kitchen shops, whatever you want. You might also want to get food during this time (the picnic during this time will not be a full lunch, just snacky things). Stillwater has many nationally-known restaurants. You can basically pick any place and know it will be amazing. Unless you go to Dairy Queen.
No RSVP necessary for this portion of the day
Cost: Super expensive! Because you’ll want to buy the whole town. That’s your issue.
