Taking a Road trip with kids can be totally insane!
So, not only do I pack bags for your kids{watch for this guest post coming soon over at Mom On Time Out}, I also pack some “extra” activities and fun things in my Mom Travel Survial Bag.First, I picked up this bag at Target. Very cute and lots of room in it. I beleive it was $19.99.
I am one of those Mom’s that feel my kids should still practice their school work, even on vacation. Not a ton, but it just doesn’t hurt . So, I printed out a few worksheets, multiplication table
and some really cute flash cards. The clipboards work so well to hold the papers in place as well as giving something hard to write on. I purchased mine at The Dollar Tree.
I printed and laminated these flashcards that I found over at Meet Penny. Then just popped a hole in the corners and stuck them together on a ring.
I saw the idea for Car Bucks on Pinterest.
I decided to make my own version of them. These will be given to the boys for good behavior on the car ride, they can then trade them in for either a prize from my bag of goodies
or some cash to use on souvenirs.
Here is my bag of prizes. All of these things were purchased in the Dollar section at Target or at The Dollar Tree.
I included these items:
Calculators
Light Up Swords
Noise Putty {I know, crazy with boys}
Air Heads
Little packs of rubber bugs
Books
Fun Straw
M&M’s {not pictured}
I have at least six magazines in the bag, just for me. I have to have these as well as my phone to keep me entertained. 🙂
We usually work on planning our next vacation while we are on vacation. I found this book at Target, it has tons of cool places to visit. I know my boys will love going through it and picking some neat places that they would like to go to.
I have a roll of zip loc baggies, big and small ones. They are handy for garbage, handing out snacks, motion sickness, etc.
These are just my favorite cookies. I had to throw them in. We take along tons of snacks like crackers, granola bars, trail mix, fruit snacks, and some special candy for the kids.
I picked up a couple surprises for the boys. They have been wanting this Wipe Out DS Game so badly, I’m sure they it will entertain them for quite a while.
The big boy is really into Lego’s, so I got him a small set. The little guy absolutely adores Pokemon {I don’t get it}, so he will pour over these cards for hours.
Lastly, this is a little kit that I usually either keep in my car or handbag. It contains just a few things that I almost
always sure to use when I am out with the kids.
I picked up this little bag from Target in the Travel Section.
The bag has Ibuprofen, Bandaids, Kleenex, and Wet wipes. Seriously, these are a must to have on hand at ALL times.
They all fit perfectly in this little bag. If you are a chocolate lover, I would also include that in the bag for emergencies.
Here is the list of everything in the bag.

What a great bag…it's like every mom's ultimate survival bag!
You are so darn organized! Love the car bucks idea. Don't think it would work with my 11 and 14 year old though. Maybe as a bribe to get them to stop torturing each other? But I think I'd have to start at $5 or $10. $1 would be much of a motivator!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Great tops for packing!
Love this! I love the idea of a “mom” bag! I usually do something like this myself, but never heard of the car bucks before – genius. Thanks for sharing all of this. And that butterfly bag from Target is great. I will have to see if mine has one.
Great ideas and timely too! We are heading out of town soon and I need to get my act together for the long road trip:)!
Thanks for your comment on my kitchen today!
