One of my friends and I decided to host an end of the year party with a group of ladies before our kids were out of school for the year. We went with a My Favorite Things theme and it was a blast!
The idea for the party actually originated from Oprah’s popular My Favorite Things show, and it’s a cute way to entertain with your friends, or as an alternative to the usual bunco, supper club or book club get-togethers. Here’s how it works:
It’s so simple. You can invite as many friends as you want or you can choose to keep the group relatively small. Our party had six ladies. Everyone was asked to bring five of their favorite things as gifts. Each gift had to be exactly the same and under $5. We planned our party so that everyone received one of each gift, but if you have more people you can have each person write their name on five pieces of paper and draw names.
Here is our table of the different gifts that were brought.
We had:
Bath and Body Works Wallflowers
Mrs. Meyers hand soap
White chocolates
Hand Sanitizer and M&M’s
Nail Polish
Wine
I picked up some fun yellow bags for everyone to put all their goodies in, these were in the dollar section at Target.
Then I just added a cute tag.
We also did favors for each guest!
A cute set of polish, file and toe separators!
We served a light lunch with LOTS of desserts!
Here is some of the food we served:
Deviled Eggs
Lemon Brownies
Meringues
Cupcakes and Oreo Truffles
Chicken Salad Sandwiches
We also had a really yummy Lemon Drop Martini!
This party was so much fun,
we will definitely be doing it again!
