Most of you know that I just returned from the red carpet premiere of Christopher Robin. I got the privilege of seeing the movie a total of three times and there is just so much to talk about!
I even got to interview the actors, including Ewan McGregor! After seeing the movie, you better believe I have a few thoughts about it. Since it comes out today, I won’t spoil anything for anyone. I did want to tell you what I thought about the movie!
Recap of Christopher Robin
Christopher Robin — now a family man living in London — receives a surprise visit from his old childhood pal, Winnie-the-Pooh. With Christopher’s help, Pooh embarks on a journey to find his friends — Tigger, Eeyore, Owl, Piglet, Rabbit, Kanga and Roo. Once reunited, the lovable bear and the gang travel to the big city to help Christopher rediscover the joy of life.
My major takeaway from the movie
As a working mom and blog owner, there are some things in life that make me halt in my tracks. You will see that I’m often traveling and there is always something going on. The Christopher Robin movie really taught me one thing and that is: to be more present. Whatever you’re doing, be present in the moment. Don’t worry about the little things! I really was convicted to be more present in the lives of those around me.
My review of Christopher Robin
Before I saw this movie, I kept picturing the cartoon version of Christopher Robin and Pooh, after all this is all I knew. I went in knowing this movie was going to be different, but how different? Of course, I have very fond memories from seeing the movie at the red carpet premiere, but this movie really did change the way I think about life!
I can honestly say I adored every part of this movie. Christopher Robin isn’t just a movie that you will see and then walk away from. It will convict you and make you want to change the way you do things. One thing I learned from Christopher Robin is that time doesn’t slow down for anyone, not even Christopher Robin. Life is going to pass us by, it’s what we do with it that matters.
The animals really made this movie special. While in my mind I know that the animals are fake, they’re very real to me! They’re a part of my childhood and helped make me who I am today. I’m so glad that my kids get to see a movie like this. It helps them appreciate Winnie the Pooh for who he is.
While everyone has different ideas of what their kids should see, movie wise. I’d without a doubt take my kids to see this movie 100 times. There are a few scenes that parents may want a head’s up about before taking little ones. The Heffalumps are kind of noisy and one attacks Christopher Robin. There is also one loud explosion and a few dark and gloomy scenes. There is also the mention of death.
However, most of us have definitely taken our kids to see movies that are much “worse” violence wise. My kids aren’t exactly little anymore, so you may have a different idea of what is kid appropriate.
I can’t wait to go see Christopher Robin again with the family. It will be one of those movies we have on our shelf for years to come. I’d encourage you to go out and see it with your family too.
Christopher Robin opens Friday, August 3rd in theaters everywhere!

I wonder how my kids will deal with the heffalump scene, my daughter often reacts to loud sounds. She has to stay outside the theater until after the trailers in case there are any that will be upsetting. There are so many movies where the trailers aren’t appropriate to the kids seeing the movies. At least this movie is something that the family can enjoy seeing.
