Cleaning Tips for National Pet Month

May 4, 2018   |   Leave a Comment

Did you know that May is national pet month? If that isn’t something to celebrate, I don’t know what is! Pets bring so much to our lives; companionship, unconditional love and a lot of laughs at their antics. With my furry BFF, Lily, I literally can’t enter a room that she is in without smiling at her sweet face!

With all of the joy pets bring to our homes, there is a downside; the smells that come with having a pet! From litter box odors to the smell of a sweaty little dog; there are so many things that might stink from time to time when sharing a space with pets.

Luckily that is only a minor thing with an easy, affordable and effective solution. I always turn to Febreze Fabric to keep things smelling fresh and inviting. It is so easy to spray it on problem areas and hard to clean things like pet beds, furniture and more. Febreze Fabric is so easy to use that I can dash through the house spritzing here and there when someone drops by unannounced. Unexpected guests are none the wiser to the smell that can accompany my sweet little Lily! She loves that her secret stinks are safe with me and Febreze Fabric.

You guys know that I have teenage boys in the house, so it is only fair to mention that when they make the air interesting with their presence, Febreze Fabric is ready to help a mom out, in a flash too.  It is great for use on gym bags, carpets, plush toys and more.

We talked about how May is national pet month earlier, but did you know that May 10th is also Clean Your Room Day? This is the perfect reason to gather the kids and tidy their rooms while spraying their beds, couches and maybe even curtains with Febreze Fabric to welcome the return of spring with a fresh and inviting space. The application is so easy that even kids can help with a little spritz that goes a long way.

Cleaning doesn’t have to be hard, even when you have teenage boys and or pets! I have developed a great printable that helps even the busiest of moms achieve and maintain a clean home in 30 days.

Let me share a few of my favorite tips with you to help you keep your house looking and smelling great.

Start at the top

The first places I clean in any room are the areas that are the highest up. Light fixtures, ceiling fan blades, cobwebs from the borders of walls. Knocking out these areas first will save you the trouble of recleaning lower surfaces later.

Disinfect as you go

How often is a doorknob or light switch touched in your house on a daily basis? Probably quite a few! Disinfect those areas to remove hidden dirt and bacteria for a fresh home.

Give Hard to Clean Areas a Little Love

Febreze Fabric is perfect for freshening up fabrics and upholstery without any large expenses such as equipment rentals or professional help. The toughest odors can’t even stand up to the power of this secret cleaning weapon.

Don’t Forget the Shower Curtains

Shower Curtain liners can be quite gross; they can mold and mildew and naturally get dirty! Toss these in the washer to clean and hang it back on the curtain rod to dry for a fresh and good as new shower curtain liner.

Use a Lint Roller

Pet vacuums are awesome for keeping up with pet hair, but usually, there are always a few leftover hairs that remain on furniture and areas like wall trim. I grab a small lint roller to pick up these hairs in a flash.

If you have a great cleaning tip to share that makes life easier and cleaner with kids and pets, be sure to share it in a comment.

Don’t forget to mark your calendar for May 10th, Clean Your Room Day and grab a few bottles of Febreze Fabric to finish the job of tidying up after your pets and family!
