I think most of you already know that we’re fight smack in the middle of building a new house. We’re over six months into the process and nearing the move in date. If you want to see more photos of the process and the fun be sure to follow us on Instagram!
Today I wanted to give you a sneak peak of some of the really cool features of the house! This is a very REAL photo, meaning that the photos are IN PROCESS and far from finished. But sometimes seeing what everything starts at before you see the final product is so much fun! Check out some of the kitchen, bathroom and lighting ideas that we’re including below! You can find more information about the Test Kitchen and Master Bathroom too on previous posts!
Open Concept Living Room and Kitchen – This space is going to be where we live, everyday. The main kitchen has an island that will have four stools for the family. If we’re anything like we have been in other houses, this is where we will eat breakfast and lunch daily. The kitchen is open into the living room and you can’t really see it in this photo but there’s a dining room to the right as well. Everything is easy to get to from the main rooms of the house. If I have guests in the dining room, the kitchen is just a hop, skip and a jump away. I love love love this layout!
There’s still a ton to be done in this space, finishing the trim, counter tops, appliances, pendant lights, faucets and more! But, it’s getting closer!
My hubby is doing a lot of the work on this house. He’s trying (and doing an amazing job) of taking what I have in my brain and making it happen. This isn’t easy, to be honest. I don’t always know what I want but know what I don’t want. This fireplace is one of his pieces of work that I know will be awesome when it’s done. The top will have two barn doors that slide shut to close the TV from the room when we don’t want it to be the focus. How cool is that?
The Lighting – This is actually one of the harder parts of the house. You’d think when you get to the point of needing lights and fans it would be an easy decision. I actually had a difficult time deciding but after they got installed – I was thrilled. Like this ceiling fan from Hunter Fans. Isn’t it dreamy looking up in the vault of our ceiling? I am in love with how it looks! Just gorgeous! You can find more information on how we picked out fans and lights over HERE.
The Test Kitchen – We shared a little sneak peak of the kitchen a couple weeks ago. This space is where I’m going to be creating a lot of my blog recipes. This means, when I am working on a recipe – the mess is not in the middle of our home. The props that I use will be in a special closet instead of random cups and plates mixed in with our personal items. It’s going to keep things a lot more organized and clean. I cannot wait!
Check out the post about the Test Kitchen if you want to see more details!
The Master Bathroom – Ok, this is one of the coolest spaces in the house. Not only does it have a HUGE walk in shower with double shower heads! Yep, I know! We also put in this fabulous tub from American Standard. It is the absolute centerpiece and diamond of the bathroom. To be honest, I’ve tried to get my hubby to get it working so that I can use it now. Let me tell you, this will be the FIRST thing I do when we move in.
There’s a TV that’s mounted on the wall as well as built in shelving. I may never leave. I cannot wait to use it! Stop over and check out the details of how we designed the Master Bathroom!
This gorgeous light fixture is going to hang over the whirlpool. It’s the perfect finishing touch to the space!
These are just a few of the sneak peak photos of our new house. We’re scheduled to be moving in March 28th, so be sure to check back to see more of the awesome space that is The Taylor House!
