Packing for a Disney Cruise (Don’t Forget to Bring These)

February 20, 2018   |   Leave a Comment

Packing for a Disney Cruise, what you CANNOT forget to bring and a couple things to leave at home!

Leaving on a cruise makes for a lot of excitement. Doesn’t it? I’ve been on several cruises, but each time I forget something that I really needed or wished that I had. When you’re on a ship, in the middle of the ocean, it’s never good to forget something you need. If you’re leaving on a cruise soon, here are 20 items you don’t want to forget to take.

If you’re headed to Disney World before the cruise make sure to read our 20 Disney Tips to know before you go!

Packing for a Disney Cruise (Don't Forget to Bring These)

Packing for a Disney Cruise – 20 Things You MUST Remember

#1. Mesh bag for dirty clothes – When it comes down to your dirty clothes, you need a place to put them, right? I always bring along a mesh bag to help store those dirty stinky clothes. The mesh bag works great for allowing the clothes to get some air.

#2. Extra pair of flip-flops – Have you ever bought one pair of flip-flops and had them break? Don’t forget to bring an extra pair of flip-flops with you! In fact, pack everyone in the family an extra pair.

#3. Dramamine – Have you ever gotten a little queasy on a cruise and didn’t know what to do? I always bring Dramamine now. In fact, it’s just not worth leaving home on a cruise without it. The off-brand version works just fine too!

#4. Extra charging station – I love how many different options there are when it comes to charging stations. It’s nice being able to plug in your phone when the battery runs out. You better believe that I bring several along. Portable charging stations are also smart to bring along.

This one that we have actually allowed you to charge four devices at one time. A lot of cruise lines do not allow power strips, so this is a great option!

#5. Hand sanitizer – Cruise ships are a lot of fun, but there are also a lot of germs. I make each person in the family carry around a portable sized hand sanitizer. Keeping germs away is so important. No one wants to get sick on a cruise ship.

#6. Don’t forget warm clothes – You may think that it’s going to be warm and sunny the whole time you’re on a cruise ship, but it could get cold. Pack a few warm clothing items, you won’t regret it.

The evenings by the pool watching movies can be downright chilly, it’s nice to have a sweatshirt and pants to wear!

#7. Pack a small backpack of the essentials – Kind of like an airport, you don’t always get your luggage right away. To solve this problem, I just keep a backpack full of the essentials. I like the crossbody version, we use it when we are at Disney World too!

If you’re traveling all day, it might be nice to keep a change of clothes in your backpack. I always feel yucky after flying all day and want to get changed!

#8. Several pairs of sunglasses – Yes, don’t forget to bring eye protection, like sunglasses! Remember to bring them for the kids too! It never fails, that my son asks to buy a pair when we’re traveling because he forgot to pack his. Now, I always ask him if he packed his sunglasses (or a couple pair)!

#9. Sunscreen and Aloe Vera – Don’t forget to bring the sunscreen and wear it. In case you get sunburnt, you’ll have Aloe Vera on hand to apply. Remember, a lot of the cruises are headed to the Carribean and the sun is warm and bright! You’re going to want to spend lots of time out in it so be prepared!

#10. Clothespins to the rescue – You’ll probably be swimming and getting a bit wet, while on the cruise ship. Bring clothespins, so you can hang up your swimsuit.

Something similar to clothespins that we bring are towel clips to hold our towel on our lounger by the pool or at the beach. I never realized how handy they were until I got a set and used them, now I don’t go anywhere without them when we travel!

#11. A waterproof camera – Grab a cheap waterproof camera and bring it with you. This is especially nice if you want to want to leave the technology behind and now worry about your phone. You can still capture memories without worrying about your phone.

If you’re planning to go snorkeling in the ocean it might be worthwhile to get a GoPro to use!

#12. Dry shampoo – If you’re going in and out of the pool or just don’t feel like showering or washing your hair every day, then dry shampoo is a must take! I use this at home too, not just on vacation and I love it!

#13. Beach towel – Cruise ship towels are nice, but what about your own beach towel? You don’t want to have to rely on those small towels to keep you warm. Plus, you won’t mix up your towel with someone else because your towel will be different!

#14. A comfy robe – If you’re a robe girl, like me, don’t forget yours! It’s nice to throw on a robe in between activities or when you wake up for the day. Nothing makes me happier than checking into a hotel that offers robes! But, I have started to pack my own when I travel because you never knew if they’ll be available or not!

#15. Bug spray – Whatever form of bug spray you choose to bring, go for it. You can even bring those bug repellant bracelets, either way, it’s worth it to bring something to keep the bugs at bay. If you’re planning to stop at the different ports and get off the ship, this is more important to have!

#16. Reusable water bottle – Love drinking water? Don’t want to forget to drink water? Make sure you bring your own reusable water bottle. There are beverage stations on Disney Magic (the ship we’re on) but the cups are fairly small so having our own reusable water bottle is a plus! You don’t have to go and refill it as much!

#17. Travel sized hygiene products – Just in case, you’ll want to bring some travel-sized hygiene products. Shampoo, deodorant, conditioner, these sorts of items.

#18. Earplugs or earphones – Keep in mind that you will be close to other people. If you don’t sleep well with the noise from others, you may want to consider bringing earplugs or earphones along with you on the cruise.

#19. Comfy clothes – For the days you want to relax, don’t forget to bring at least one set of comfy clothes. Maybe even a pair of slippers?

#20. Bring along a notebook – Like to write things down? Journal? Draw? I love bringing a notebook along to keep track of my trip and special memories.

Disney Cruises it’s fun to bring along an autograph book too so that you can have all the characters sign! Make sure that when you’re packing for a Disney Cruise you take into consideration that you’re going to have tons of characters to photo and get autographs of!
