I am excited to have Leanne from And Away We Go sharing a fun paper craft idea that you can do with your kids. Paper Crafts are an easy and inexpensive way to get your kids busy and have some fun with them. These Spring Ladybugs involve just a few materials and are adorable when you get done.
Paper Crafts: How to make Spring ladybugs
The warm weather has finally reached us here in London, Ontario!! This week we have managed to get outside to play for two consecutive days, and although it’s pretty muddy, it has been wonderful! With all of this spring sunshine, I wanted to share a quick and colorful craft that would fit the season… and for some reason, I kept coming back to ladybugs! These cut and paste ladybugs are a great independent craft for kids who are working on their cutting skills… those circles can be so tricky!!
I started by tracing and cutting two circles, one in red and one in black. Next, I folded the red circle in half and then made a second fold about a half inch in from the edge, perpendicular to the first. I cut along both folds to make the ladybug’s wings.
The wings were then glued onto the black circle. Using a whole punch, I made a number of small black circles and glued them onto the ladybug’s wings (I found it easiest to place small dabs of glue on the wing first).
And there you have it! Pretty simple!!
Other ideas on how to use your paper craft
One little bug is adorable on it’s own, placed on the fridge, or stuck to the window…but here are some other fun ideas for our little ladies!
- glue to clothespins and/or magnets for hanging art on the fridge
- string a bunch on a piece of twine or ribbon for a springtime garland
- make a spring wreath by attaching a colorful assortment to a paper plate (with the center cut out)
- add to a note card to send a fun message to a friend
Sometimes it’s the simplest of ideas that turn out the best! Have fun with your little crafters!
I love this project and Leanne has so many other cool ideas on her blog. Here are a couple of my favorites!
