Road Trip With Kids

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Lego.

My family and I have a trip to Canada planned later this summer and I’ve started to think about different ideas on how to entertain my kids for 14 hours.  A road trip with kids can be scary and overwhelming to think about, we have some great tips to share with you that will make your vacation run a little smoother!

Road Trip with Kids - fun ideas and tricks to keep them busy!

Road Trips with Kids – Tips & Ideas

Have LOTS of Snacks – My boys are always hungry and that doesn’t change when we’re in the car.  Packing lots of easy snacks, lunch, drinks, etc. is so important.  The last thing I want is to have to stop ever 30 minutes to get some a drink or snack.  Check out my post with 12 perfect Road Trip Snack Ideas for some easy options.

Lots of Movies – Grab an inexpensive portable DVD player (like this one) and some of their favorite movies.  I usually like to limit screen time, but during a long road trip we aren’t as strict.  Video games and movies keep them busy for hours!

Reading Material – My boys don’t just have screen time though, we always bring lots of books, magazines, and even paper for writing on.  My little guy is very creative and loves to draw and write on long drips.

Games for Everyone – We also love playing family games in the car like I-spy, scavenger hunts, etc.  Check out my post on the Best Road Trip Games to give you some more ideas.

Special Surprises – Another tip I have is, get the kids a little toy like these Lego Ninjago Airjitzu Flyers.  These aren’t necessarily toys they will play with IN the car but they have something to look forward to having after the trip.  You could call it a bribe or motivation to be on their best behavior.  My boys love Lego’s so it’s easy for me to find them a little surprise to take a long.
