Our kids seem to always be on the go. After they get home from school, they’re always onto the next activity. Usually, it’s some type of sports activity and we’re rushing to get out the door.
My goal as a mom is to make sure their live go as smoothly as possible! After raising kids for several years, I can say with confidence that I have learned a thing or two. Here are a few tips to make life easier for busy families! These simple tips are tried and true and can apply to everything whether it’s sports or after-school time.
Carve out time to rest – This statement is truer than ever! Your kids may be busy, but it’s important to carve out time for them to rest. Whether they rest on the couch for 20 minutes or take a power nap in their comfy bed, make sure resting is something they do! Reading a good book or sitting outside on the porch are also great ways to rest!
Remember that sports are intense and kids need to have some time to rest before hitting the fields. Even if it’s just ten minutes!
Plan to eat dinner together – What was once something everyone used to do together is now something very few families do together. Make sure you eat dinner together as much as possible. Even if you’re busy, taking those extra few minutes to spend time together is always a good idea. Your kids are going to appreciate that extra time spent with you!
Spend time getting things ready for tomorrow – One of my favorite things that I’ve taught my kids is to spend 5-10 minutes getting everything ready for the next day. Packing lunches, getting papers signed, and clothes ready for the next day can help eliminate the stress that kids feel in the mornings or rushing between sports activities.
Spend time with your kiddo making an after-school or sports snack – One of my favorite memories of my mom was coming home to make an after-school snack with her. I’ve passed that onto my kids now! When my kids come home from school, we head straight to the kitchen to make our snack. You better believe that I’m just as hungry as they are! My kids and I definitely have an appetite with room to spare. A really fun snack the kids love is our “chicken kabob” snack skewers with Foster Farms Bold Bites chicken. We love the big, bold flavors like, Caribbean Jerk, Cajun, Parmesan Garlic, and Korean BBQ. And I love that they’re made with whole chicken breast meat, with no nitrates, nitrites, artificial colors, or artificial flavors.
The chicken kabobs are super easy to make too! Just find your favorite fruits and veggies, your favorite Bold Bites and stick them on a skewer or toothpick. Voila! Snack time made easy for everyone–no cooking or cutting required 🙂
And our after-school routines can get spiced up thanks to our other favorite snack foods which are quick and easy to prepare:
- Foster Farms Chicken Breast Nuggets– These are made with 100% white meat Foster Farms Chicken! You can count on them to be 100% natural, without any added hormones or steroids. You can also grab them from the frozen chicken aisle at your favorite retailer.
- Foster Farms Honey Crunchy Corn Dogs– Made of chicken, with no added hormones or steroids, and no trans fats. One serving has 7 grams of protein-which is great for growing, active kids.
