Do you love those creamy St. Patrick’s Day shakes that McDonald’s serves this time of year? The Shamrock Shake is one of my favorites as well as my boys, so I thought I’d try and make a simple version at home that I can make instead of running out to buy them.
This Copycat Shamrock Shake is delicious, my boys even said it was better than the original because of the goodies I added into the shake.
How to make a Copycat Shamrock Shake
Ingredients
- 2 Cups Mint Ice Cream
- 1/2 Cup Milk
- 6 Thin Mints
- Whip cream
- Sprinkles
Instructions
Step 1 – Crush up 3 thin mints
Step 2 – Place the mint ice cream, milk and crushed thin mints into your blender and blend for a minute
Step 3 – Pour the shake into a cup and top with whip cream and sprinkles. Add a Thin Mint into the whip cream as garnish. Enjoy!
Making these for St. Patrick’s Day as a dessert is a great idea, but honestly we could have them any time of year. They’re fabulous. I love Thin Mints so adding those to the recipe, made a delicious difference. We love those cookies!
This Copycat Shamrock Shake is a simple recipe, you could also make it with vanilla ice cream, mint extract and green food coloring but we prefer this version best. If you want to try making the vanilla ice cream recipe, stop by my friend Princess Pinky Girl for the full recipe.
Have you started making St. Patrick’s Day treats and sweets? I’m started a mint, green and rainbow kick so be on the look for many more posts over the next couple weeks.

This will be the perfect recipe to make after we get our Girl Scout cookie order in a few weeks! That is if I can keep my kids from eating all the Thin Mints before I get around to making the shakes 🙂
