At our house we have a stocking tradition that is very similar to an advent calendar. One of my besties, Jenn, gave me this idea several years ago and my kids love it!! Thanks Jenn, love ya!
So, how it works, each of my boys have a stocking. In the past I have hung them on the door of their room, but this year I had this handy little hanger on my office door and decided to just hang them both on it. So, each day the boys find a small gift in the stocking with the count down number on the gift. It is something really small, usually something along the lines of a pencil, candy, gum, small book, candy cane, those type of things. And, the gift can appear at any time of the day, this is mostly because I often forget first thing. LOL. So, they check the stockings in the morning, after school, evening and the gift is there at different times. Even though they are small items the boys are so excited each day to see what is waiting for them.
Here is some of the types of things I put in. Yes, those are Halloween pencils. LOL. They were on clearance someplace, they work!
This tradition has really worked well for us, and my kids love it!!
I would like to get an advent calendar sometime, there are so many cute ideas out there on ways to make them!! Here are a few of my favorites: This one is over at The Sewing Loft.
I love your stockings! My kids would love that! We have a muffin tin one at our house that I made last year. I fill it up at the beginning of the month and it works great for me bc then I don't have to remember to fill it everyday! Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog!
