Summer Activities for Kids Series: Flower Picking

Today is day four of our two week Summer Activities for Kids series where we are sharing a new idea each day for you to stick in your file of ideas for kids this summer or in the future.

For two weeks, we will be sharing a daily post with an idea of a summer activity, summer crafts for kids or maybe even some summer snacks.  I am excited to have some amazing bloggers on board helping me with this series!

We are also running a two week long Linky Party where you can share your Summer Activities too!  At the bottom of this post, be sure to link up!  I have a Pinterest Summer Board where I am sharing all these activities and some of the party link ups too so be sure to stop by and find some great ideas!

Today I am excited to have Erika from Shine On sharing a simple and fun project to do with the kids!  This is all about Flower Picking and creating Flower Crowns.  I remember doing this when I was younger!  I love this activity!

Even if it doesn’t look like it, it is summer around here, it’s just the UK version of summer. We are trying to enjoy every little bit of sunshine we can get. Wildflower picking is the perfect activity to combine quality  family time and vitamin D.

Wile you look for the perfect little flowers to go in your bouquets you can talk to your kids about who created it all, study nature, counting and naming flowers and just make most of your time with your kids. You don’t need any supplies or apps just a field and sunshine.
Trust me they will enjoy having your full attention and will remember it.
And what you would do with all those pretty little flowers, besides displaying them in a vase?
Well, sit down on the grass and make some fairy flower crowns…

Isn’t this adorable?!
…now, I have two girls so it is expected to do that, if your boys are more adventurous
like Emma here, my oldest,
a field with flowers and trees is the perfect place to free that imagination of your little ones.
Be a knight in shining armour, a pirate looking for a treasure, or tie a stick to the tree and pretend you are Mowgli (Jungle Book).
Are you tired? Lay down and reed a book or tell them a story while staring at the clear blue sky and get some more of that vitamin D. 🙂
