Welcome back everyone!  I am excited to be in our final days of our Summer Activities for Kids Series!

For two weeks (excluding weekends), we will be sharing a daily post with summer activities, summer crafts for kids or maybe even some summer snacks.  I am excited to have some amazing bloggers on board helping me with this series!

We are also running a two week long Linky Party where you can share your Summer Activities too!  At the bottom of this post, be sure to link up!

I have a Pinterest Summer Board where I am sharing all these activities and some of the party link ups too so be sure to stop by and find some great ideas!

Hello!  My name is Kelly and I blog at Here Comes the Sun.  I’m excited to be here today during Chrissy’s Summer Activities for Kids Series.

During the summer, we spend countless days at the ocean. My kids just can’t get enough of the sand and sea. They love all the sea critters like crabs and the occasional jellyfish that washes ashore. And every time we go to the grocery store, we have to visit the lobster tank to say hi to the lobsters.  I don’t have the heart to tell my youngest that the lobsters in the tank are going to end up on someone’s plate.
My kids also love arts and crafts time. To celebrate summer, we made these cute handprint and footprint lobsters. I am in love with handprint and footprint art.  It is a great way to document how your children grow over time.

Supplies:
Cardstock
Red Tempera Paint
Red and black markers
Googly eyes
Sponge brush

1.Use a sponge brush to apply the tempera paint to your children’s hands and feet. Do the foot first and then the hands.

2. Stamp their handprints and footprint onto the paper, making sure the footprint is in the bottom center of the paper.

3. Let the paint dry and “connect” the body to the claws with red marker.

4. Using a black marker, draw two lines and glue some googly eyes at the end of each.

5. Add some definition to the lobster’s body with black marker.

Now you have a cute craft that you can keep as a reminder of how little your children once were.

How do you keep the learning going throughout the summer?
