Summer Activities for Kids Series: Oreo Fun

June 13, 2013   |   Leave a Comment

Welcome back everyone!  I am excited to be in our final days of our Summer Activities for Kids Series!

For two weeks (excluding weekends), we will be sharing a daily post with summer activities, summer crafts for kids or maybe even some summer snacks.  I am excited to have some amazing bloggers on board helping me with this series!

We are also running a two week long Linky Party where you can share your Summer Activities too!  At the bottom of this post, be sure to link up!

Hey there!  I’m so excited to share a fun activity we did with Oreos yesterday! It is something I used to do in my classroom…WAY back when I was a teacher.

The kids get so excited about it and it’s a good way to keep their minds working a bit while they’re on vacation. Plus, it’s an excuse to buy some Oreos and eat them for a snack. (and sneak some later on in the day)

Take a look at the worksheets we used.

The littles only worked on their numbers. They wrote down how many everyone stacked and then circled each person’s greatest number. This was enough for them.

The girls (who are going into second grade) did all of this. They recorded the attempts, made a bar graph, found the median and the range, then made and drew an Oreo sculpture.

Graphing: Give them a clipboard, they’ll think it’s fun.
